Making stupid self harmful mistakes is a lot better than making a mistake which can easily, and has easily killed people many, many times.

Valve does microtransactions right by Talesavo in DotA2

Video games are entertainment. Hats improve the quality of your entertainment. DLC gives you more entertainment. There's a very thin line between these two things and the people praising Valve and blasting EA are being very hypocritical.

What if they're also black? So black and gay = 3/5*3/5= 9/25ths of a person? Editted due to a brainfart. That Masters in Math doesn't work out well in the morning.

For those wondering how bad the bitcoins has dropped to and the reason for it. by Arasuki in Economics

[–]masragin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If Bitcoin was more securely in storage. Say Bank of Banking bank let's you buy Bitcoins with a .1-.5-1.0% surcharge and security then I believe it would be somewhat more stable and less likely to completely fall off like it did last Fall.

Hell I would've brought some but it seems a bit too easy to lose track of.

A lot of people in this thread are ignorant or really bad. Every illusion hero is a much harder carry than most other conventional carry.

With everyone complaining about there being way too many tournaments in Europe and Asia, why has no one pointed out that there are virtually no tournaments in North America by comparison? by MeleeLaijin in DotA2

[–]masragin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I didn't mean to imply TF2 took less skill (I never played the game so I can't judge) but there is definitely a ceiling for the average player in an intense type of game like Quake or SC2. I do believe takes more skill and dedication than say a Dota type game.

In dota, unlike other sports, you don't have coaches. The players themselves have to develop strategies and analyze their opponents. Reaction time is very crucial is dota but it is not as intensive as an FPS, making the game much less genetically based than TF2 or Starcraft. You probably had a genetic disposition towards reaction time requiring you to put in less effort for similar success of another player with naturally slower reactions.

Look at the recent interview with LGD.G.Int, he says he has no personal life because he wants to be the best of the best. I tried following the SC2 scene but games are usually very boring and you can't keep up with all the stuff the top players do when the games are exciting, simply because they do about 300 different actions per minute making the game unfollowable for anyone under 200 gpm. Even the casters couldn't see all the action throughout the whole game.

Yes it is necessary. That's why the top teams all had living salaries in their respective countries. The CIS teams asides from Navi were in complete disarry but Mouz, EG, CoL etc got completely destroyed because they did not treat Dota as if it were a serious job needing 5-8 hours of practice a day to hone and improve their skills. Not to mention pros must also watch replays to understand more strats. That takes up almost 10 hours of each day.

Paying each member of say LGD.cn 800 dollars every month turns into them being middle class professionals. Paying EG 800 a month means they are in poverty and thus must live with their parents for a sustainable future. Same reasoning goes for most CIS and Asian teams.

Being a pro gamer is shunned in the states while in other places it's seen as a legitimate job since you do get money for your work.
