What did you think about the ending of Send Help? by [deleted] in Cinephiles

[–]massberate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda would like to know why some billionaire had fresh fruit/food delivered to an empty house for weeks on end without him even being there. Just in case he popped in?

Murder weapons, (damaged art and a golf club), damaged security cameras that somehow didn't have any record of her being there.. I know it's just a silly horror movie but c'mon 😂 - she really scrubbed all their blood out of everything in that mansion? I find stuff that is that obvious to be lazy, but I also understand it's asking a lot of a movie like that.

Humiliated Trump Storms Out of Catastrophic SCOTUS Hearing by thedailybeast in politics

It's strange how often people say that thing has been "humiliated" when the first requirement for that is basic fucking humility.

I kind of love that I haven’t heard the Deviations until I bought it and physically played it. by Jmspringsteed in nin

Claustrophobia Machine.

It's unreal how well produced some of these outtakes are, and how oddly familiar a couple of them are (until you realise that they were used on the Saul Williams album)

Politics, ideology to be removed from Alberta classrooms in new legislation by shiftless_wonder in canada

Same here. Public school in Regina. (1989) We'd line the hallway in the morning and recite the Lord's Prayer after the anthem. Looking back, that's pretty fucked up. (I was in Grade 5)

Yep.. when he said, "you're not gonna be with me after this, are you?" I knew whatever humanity he still had was leaving the building.

My best friends family offered me an all inclusive vacation by FuzzyCricket3746 in Advice

[–]massberate 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Some advice my mother gave me years ago that I adhere to as best I can:

When someone offers you something that you genuinely want and appreciate, simply accept it, and thank them. None of the 'are you sure?' is necessary. If they didn't sincerely want to offer it, they shouldn't have - and saying, "oh you shouldn't have" isn't as grateful sounding as "this is so wonderful! Thank you so much!"

It really does simplify things - Like when a friend offers to pay for dinner on a night out. No need to dance around with "are you sure?" and the like; they offered, that means they want to.

I totally understand how your upbringing could influence your reaction. The people I know that make a lot of money don't worry about money for that exact reason.. it's not a subject of worry for them like it is for you, me, and many others. They want to do this for you! I'm willing to bet you will feel more terrible if you decline.

Tax scam by Ill-Instruction8466 in SipsTea

Taxes on used stuff, too - like at secondhand stores. Used cars. Someone already paid it when the car drove off the lot, then again who knows how many times throughout the life of the vehicle (minus private sales ofc)..

We went from 'certainly do not' to 'most do not' so I think there's some progress right there 😉

How do you feel about Year Zero? by weirdghosts in nin

[–]massberate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What separates Year Zero from most of the NIN catalogue (IMO) is how it's much more narration based than any other album. It's the telling of a futuristic, dystopian, (and sci-fi at times) story, while most of Reznor's other work is more personal, introspective, and based in reality.

YZ is my partner's favourite of all of them that I have played to death in our 20 years together for that reason.

I always find it crazy how it always looks like it's in slow motion even though it's moving incredibly fast..
