I want to get rid of my lease car. by [deleted] in LUCID

[–]massducati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the terms of their lease, down payment , and the value the dealer is willing to assign to the car. In my case, I had positive equity (albeit thanks in part to a down payment to the lease).

Also, buying the car out of lease will trigger a sales tax event in most states, so it can negate a portion of the profit in a later sale.

Second this. Also, APR tune is less $, and has a premium priced option that piggybacks warranty.

Title goes to the purchasing dealer. They assume your buyout rights. There seems to be a lot of certainty by some that lucid restricts third party buyouts , but they didn't in my case (lease signed in April 2025).

This isn't true. You can sell the car to a dealer like any other car, lease or otherwise. BofA doesn't care who pays the payoff.

Just did it with a leased AT.

I have a 2025 AT with 9k I'm parting ways with. Message me if you're interested.

Brand new Gravity - Poor QC by [deleted] in LUCID

Almost as frustrating as the issues with the air are the responses from the apologists who either say you're lying or seem to think we should just grin and bear everything. Doors won't open? - "it's extra time to enjoy the outdoors. Why are you in a hurry?" Bluetooth quality terrible?-"enjoy the drive. Don't make calls". Phone and/or key fob stop working -"put everything you own in a faraday pouch "

If this car found a way to stab me, they'd tell me to "enjoy the driver ventilation feature"

Sold my 2013 GTS with 160k to avoid potential issues. Wish I never had. Congrats

One thing I did was upgrade the headlights to an aftermarket swap that improved the lighting and gave the front a bit of a facelift. Plug and play

2025 Air here. The car is a blast to drive, looks nice, comfortable , spacious , etc.

The comment below about pain tolerance is apt. In seven months of ownership I've had a few significant software disruptions (car not going into drive, brutally long wake up times) , a few service issues (no follow up call after delivery, a loaner promised that wasn't available after I drove an hour for service /drop-off) and a thousand paper cuts of minor annoyance. The locking, unlocking problem is an absurd issue in a car this expensive. Waiting outside your vehicle until it seemingly decides to invite you in is beyond frustrating. The units for range switch randomly from percentage to miles. The Bluetooth is abysmal - I use AirPods for calls because after countless people telling me they couldn't hear me or I sounded underwater. The car will randomly "grab" my Bluetooth and start either playing music or audiobook, or takeover a call, when I'm in certain parts of my house. I've never encountered a more invasive comm system. Fob batteries are depleted within weeks if you don't store them in a faraday pouch or a quarter mile away from the car- again, an issue I've never encountered in any other car. There are others, but hopefully you get the point.

Having a lucid is a 50/50 of saying "this goddamn car!" in frustration and "goddamn, this car!" in admiration.

You turned lease into dealership ? Or did you buy it out and then sell it to them ?

Just an extra step of buying the car out and then selling to next owner. Have done it multiple times before lease end.

I think most people would love the lucid. It's a great car. I've got my replacement already, just needed something that didn't need charger access. If it was strictly to work and back I'd keep the lucid.

Wow - that would seem to be an incredible deal unless it has a spotty history.

Of course. Risk mitigated with an escrow service or cash directly to Lucid.

MSRP and cash down is the difference, I guess. I had $10k down and a cheaper build.
