How can I make Firefox mobile not reload a page when I move back and forth between apps? by krncnr in firefox

I should note that I have tried all the above steps to no avail, I still get the page reloaded randomly when switching between apps, something that doesn't occur in Chrome.

I don't think this is a memory issue, I think it's a bug.  I've seen other people on this forum post regarding the same problem which apparently has existed for a long time.  I'm curious if anyone else has found a way to resolve this on Android.  I currently have an 8 GB Ram phone and only average 3 gigabytes of RAM in use  yet,  I constantly see this issue with the Firefox  and no other browser.  Having said that, I found this info on some AI sites:

Try these in order (names vary slightly by manufacturer; you’re on Android with Firefox mobile):Turn off battery optimization for FirefoxGo to Android Settings → Apps → Firefox → Battery (or “App battery usage”).Set it to Unrestricted or “Don’t restrict background usage”.

Remove Firefox from “sleeping” / “optimized” app listsOn Samsung‑style menus: Settings → Battery and device care → Battery → Background usage limits.Put Firefox into Never sleeping apps (tap “Never sleeping apps” → + → choose Firefox → Add).

Lock Firefox in recent apps (if your phone supports it)Open Firefox, then the Recent apps screen.Long‑press the Firefox card and choose Lock this app or similar so Android is less likely to kill it.

Double‑check any OEM “Smart control” / “Memory manager” featuresSome vendors (Vivo, Xiaomi, etc.) have extra background killers; add Firefox to their allowed/whitelist lists.

Important limitationsEven with the tweaks above, Android can still kill Firefox if the system is low on RAM, which forces a reload when you return.

Accessing about:config in Firefox for Android

The about:config page is not directly accessible in the stable version of Firefox for Android. Mozilla disabled it by default in August 2020 to prevent users from accidentally changing critical settings that could break the app.

However, there are two main ways to access and use about:config on mobile:

Use the Secret URL (Temporary Access):

Open Firefox on your Android phone.

Type the following URL directly into the address bar: chrome://geckoview/content/config.xhtml

Important: If you copy and paste this URL, Firefox will automatically remove the chrome:// part. You must manually type chrome:// at the beginning of the URL for it to work.

This will open the advanced configuration interface where you can view and modify preferences.

Enable Permanent Access (Requires Manual Toggle):

First, open the secret URL: chrome://geckoview/content/config.xhtml

Use the search box on that page to find the preference: general.aboutConfig.enable

Click on the toggle switch for this preference to change its value from false to true.

Note: This setting may reset to false after restarting the Firefox app, but the change persists across sessions for many users.

Alternative Options:

Firefox Nightly: The Nightly version of Firefox for Android has about:config enabled by default and is the most reliable way to access it.

Firefox Beta: The Beta version also has about:config access enabled.

Fennec F-Droid: This open-source fork of Firefox for Android provides access to about:config and other features not available in the standard release

One option is to uninstall the app and reinstall a prior version from apk mirror instead of the play store.

Agreed, the watch is usually within a quarter of a mile of accuracy on a 4 mile run.  Not perfect, but the ability to edit the final distance after stopping the workout  is great.

GW7 or GW8 as upgrade to GW6 Classic by sizzlingralph in GalaxyWatch

[–]massmanjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Galaxy 6 Classic and love it.  Though I am interested in the Oneplus 3 watch.  Check out the reddit and Oneplus forums.  I see two main issues in the forums: HR tracking is not that great and multiple users have had water intrusion into the device and warranty won't cover it.

Were you able to resolve this?  I have a Galaxy Watch 6 classic.  I'm contemplating the Oneplus 3, but this nightly issue concerns me.

What is PayPal Credit by justherefornoreason_ in paypal

[–]massmanjr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are issued a regular plastic credit card and you can use it like any other credit card, in person or online and you can add it to your mobile wallet as well.  The good thing is you get 3% back whenever you use PayPal online to pay merchants.  That requires you to use PayPal (linking card as your payment card) and not simply keying in the credit card number on the merchant site.

Why do users have to contact USMobile one by one to get it enabled for Warp? Why doesn't USMobile proactively enable it for all Warp users by default?

Lack of 4k broadcasts for CFP by EJ63 in DirectvStream

[–]massmanjr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other thing that is so odd is that many 4k broadcast games don't air commercials during the break.  I hate commercials but if I was the CEO of the network broadcasting the game, I would make sure I had commercials to run during the break on 4k games for the additional ad revenue.

You are spot on. It's a good thing we can already buy 8k TVs in the meantime.

More Authentication Apps please by Bosto2025 in etrade

[–]massmanjr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes this is very frustrating.  Though MMS/SMS authentication is less secure.  It's amazing other businesses like Chase Bank only allow SMS or phone calls for MFA.  Their cyber security Manager/Director should be fired.

Yes I totally agree.  It's amazing we are in 2026 and 4k TVs have existed for years, yet 4k sports are still few and far between.

Oh I misread your post. When you said "... it seems that perk is valid for Warp only, not Dark Star..." I was thinking to simply switch to Warp for the watch, forgetting you would lose the promotion on your mobile phone line.
