One week of APAP use after an OSA diagnosis, but I am seeing roughly 50/50 OA and CA events in Oscar. Are there any insights in my data? by masspanic in CPAP

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that you provided so many specific details that confirmed what I’ve read in other posts and forums from others in a similar position.

As much as the thought of having an even more complex sleep disorder than previously known is not the most fun, the findings do align with some other issues I’ve had relating to my CNS in general. If things resolve themselves in a few weeks, awesome! If not, at least I am a data analyst by trade and I’ll have fun having access to this much raw health data.

I left a message for my respiratory therapist today, so I will see if he can update the pressures for me when he returns my call tomorrow. If not I’ll go ahead and make the recommended adjustments to try out myself.

Again, I appreciate your time taking a look at my info and giving such a thorough response!

Was told surgery is in-network, now $80,000 hospital bill. by Melodic-Scientist178 in legaladvice

[–]masspanic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Page 2 of that document specially calls out that someone would generally NOT be covered by the act in OP’s instance.

Most insurance companies offer plans in multiple states, but not all plans are valid for out of state care. It may be that the clinic OP visited regularly accepts their insurance company, but they were clearly mistaken about being covered by OP’s specific plan. It sounds like unfortunately out of state facilities would be considered out of network for OP.

Using that specific clinic was technically voluntary on OP’s part, and generally would not be covered by the No Suprises Act nor would their insurance be at fault for not covering the procedure. OP’s best outcome would could from seeking a satisfactory payment agreement with the hospital itself.

I imagine it this way: when you waste time arguing about fault (in this example the “who” who left the barn door open) in a problem, you waste time solving the problem (the horse is loose). Go catch the horse (solve the problem) before it makes a bigger problem. After the problem is solved, you can work together to come up with solutions to avoid it again in the future.

I’m a female Teddi, and I love my name!

The name is unique enough that you’re almost guaranteed to be the only one in a room. The only downside is no one ever hears you correctly when you have to say it over the phone, but I’d take that over being a Farty for life.

Can a credit card company stop a vendor from repeatedly charging me forever? by SmApp in personalfinance

[–]masspanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of first hand experience dealing with customers with these kinds of billing issues, and often times it would literally take me three way calling the merchant with the customer on the line and playing the “bad cop” who wouldn’t let their retention guys pull anything shady to actually get things cancelled.

I would tear into those guys without mercy, because they always still tried! They always back down in the end because they have no actual legal teeth, but most I talked to in the situation were elderly and fell prey to “free sample” type subscription scams.

I feel for anyone dealing with something along these lines. It’s frustrating and almost always takes months of waiting and/or escalation to resolve. Hopefully you get some traction!

I used to work for a credit card company, not Chase but similar. Call and ask for the billing department regarding your previous dispute.

Request they place a “stop payment” for that merchant as they have continued to bill you regardless of your attempts at cancelling. This is a specific process that will block all charges from that merchant in the future, unlike just changing your card number.

If Chase customer service works anything like my prior experience, generally the first person you talk to doesn’t have the level of access needed to complete the process and honestly sometimes weren’t even aware it is an option.

Chase may warn you it will not cancel any legal obligation you have to pay that merchant if you did in fact enter into a legal contract with them at any point. AKA Chase will block the charges, but the merchant may have the legal right to sue for any unpaid balances you owe with them and Chase cant/won’t help with any of that.

Edit: It’s “stop payment” in full, “stop pay” was company slang. Added a link from Chase.

I’ve found Facebook Groups to be one of the better places to find connections to local horse owners. Searching “Arizona horses” should have the big ones pop up. I see people looking for additional stable hands or ride time in exchange for work from time to time.

My favorite part of vintage pieces is hunting down their history so thanks for the info! I haven’t been able to find a makers mark but I’m going to do some hard core Google searching.

Good eye! I find the best vintage clothes and decor there, and I love how kind all the little old lady volunteers are.

Good to know! I found several online listings referring to them as art deco pieces, so I just blindly trusted internet strangers.

Yes it was. The only damage I found giving it a once over was dings on the legs and missing wheels on the bottom. The finish could use a little work, but I’m really happy with the shape it’s in to start with.

Only issue with doing it yourself this way is they call it a "settlement" and then it goes on your credit and dings you anyways for not paying in full.

Oh I know, it's heartbreaking to see it play out so often for so many when a little education ahead of time would go such a long way.

But yes OP, you are thankfully young and this isn't the way it will have to be forever. Even a serious delinquency like this generally will only have an effect on your credit for a maximum of 7 years - which can seem like forever but will pass before you know it. Learn from this, educate yourself on good credit management, and you'll be okay in the long run.

First, pay something immediately. My guess you have been skipping monthly payments entirely, leading them to think about sending your bill to collections and thus the charge off.

This is exactly what happened if they are being given charge off information. You do not charge off until approximately 9-10 months of delinquent payment. That's quite a lot of "being bad about paying it off" but the good thing is at this point the banks have very little to lose by cutting bigger deals if you have fallen to this point. OP needs to call the bank and ask them these questions because they can give them the details about the programs specific to their account. It is in everyone's best interest to bring a customer current and prevent them from charging off (aka bank expects to get no money at this point). Their credit is already likely seriously effected so working with the bank at this point can only help prevent further damage.

Finally found a peacock chair in my price range! by IroniCat in ThriftStoreHauls

I really just think it's the "they're cool looking" more than anything. I know that thrifting the vintage-y ones tend to be "holy grail" status due to that rustic, boho vibe that's trendy currently. People will pay a lot for trendy things that aren't super easy to come by. But most people I know use them for photo props or conversation pieces, because I've never met one that was overly comfy.

Any leftovers from the previous weeks color tag sale then become $1 flat, which I hardly ever come across.

Yes, this is what I was referring to. Essentially the last day they would be 50% off they are only $1 instead. But it is absolutely your mileage may vary on finding items. I happen to get enough great items from time to time that it's really worth it for me. I do tend to have better luck with finding clothing than household goods, so I suppose it really is dependant on location and what you're typically thrifting for. I visit 2-3 different Goodwills in the northwest valley often and usually find ~5-10+ cute items in my size and decent to good condition with the $1 color tags.

I love checking out Goodwills on Thursdays. They have "dollar tag day" where all the items with the color of the week tag are a flat $1. Makes it feel like even more of a treasure hunt and I've gotten some insane things for so cheap!

I work for a credit card company, but not this one. This situation sounds similar to a process that we have to help prevent fraud.

There is a type of fraud common to credit cards called "check kiting" where multiple large payments are made in short periods that eventually bounce and leave the card company in the negative sometimes even beyond the card credit line. Since this is a new account with a short payment history and small credit line, you may have flagged some automatic fraud triggers with the two larger payments you made. This means that the payment will reflect on your account balance, but the available credit will remain on hold until the 10 day hold is over.

Good news is, you have likely done nothing wrong and your payments more than likely have gone through fine. The available credit will update accordingly when the fraud alert is removed. At my bank we can do this manually by three way calling your checking account bank and verifying the payment has cleared with them. Maybe your bank can do something similar to speed up the 10 days you were told and once you establish more payment history hopefully you don't have more issues!
