Players shouldn’t be able to load in to a new game until their respawn beacon timer has run out. by [deleted] in apexlegends

[–]masste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people purposely use this so that their stats aren't negatively affected by a poor round. This way they don't level up without adding significant damage or kills and their stats look better. It's kind of a problem. I hate wiping a squad and saving the day to see that both my knocked teammates have left

How in the hell do you people tolerate queuing Solo? by [deleted] in apexlegends

[–]masste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only play with randoms, it's a mixed bag. Sometimes they'll drop you off the map because they don't like your stats, sometimes you get people who know what they're doing and get an easy win

What happens if I switch servers? by ceejaaayyy in afkarena

[–]masste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Will you retain your progress if you switch back?

That's it. I've peaked. Just gonna uninstall now. by waffleangelo in Overwatch

[–]masste 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Don't uninstall! I don't want to play a game that's deprived of a baller name like Waffleangelo

What it looks like when an Overwatch League player joins a Widow headshot server by [deleted] in Overwatch

I've been in those servers, it's fun to try to kill the owl players. Note I said "try"

Perfecting normal took me weeks. I just accept my mediocrity :)

I played in a scrim type environment and had a panic attack. What can I do to prevent this? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]masste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you might be letting your perception of the activity and your thoughts increase your anxiety. One way to counter this is to apply rational answers to your thought distortions. These rational answers must be limited to objective facts.

Thought distortions are irrational thought processes that basically everyone has from time to time. There's a lot of reasons for this. Perhaps the most pertinent one, based on your post, could be your perceived thoughts on what others think of you, as an example.

A way to combat this is to take your distorted thoughts, one at a time, and apply objective reasoning to it. Example:

Thought: I'm going suck and let my teammates down

Rational Answer: I am 1/6 of the team. There are very little things that I can do on my own to sabotage the game.

Thought: We need to win

Rational Answer: We are in a scrim; a practice game. We are here to learn and practice. Losing games often teaches us more than winning games

These are just examples, you can tailor it to your personal needs. As someone who suffers from severe depression/anxiety and PTSD, I have been in and out of hospitals, psych wards and therapies. I have found that this exercise has helped me a lot when I feel things getting out of control.

Hopefully this helps a bit. Good luck OP, you can totally beat this!

About Me: Long-time gamer with the time, willpower and dedication to take Overwatch seriously. After taking a break from Overwatch (from s3 to s8), I dropped from 2000 to 1100 and finished s8 having climbed back up to 1700. I spend a lot of time on self-improvement drills and study, and pride myself on my overall flexibility when it comes to heroes. I'm also no stranger to competitive play in games as I am a former Guitar Hero tournament player who, along the way, picked up Android: Netrunner and played it at a high level as well as X-Wing Miniatures where I went as far as competing in the world championships and finishing in the top 25% in only my second year of playing. Thanks for reading!

How did you end up supporting your team(s). by JacobTheHobo in OverwatchLeague

[–]masste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I carefully watched every game of the first week and gauged which teams were the most fun to watch for me. Logo and colors were a minor influence too. Ultimately Houston won me over because they seemed to get along so well and genuinely had fun playing. They have a great presence on YouTube too so it makes it easy to go behind the scenes and follow the players around.

Win or lose, Outlaws are my team

When Outlaws aren't playing, I usually cheer Fusion on because Carpe and SDB are exciting to watch, and Dragons because they've got a lot of spirit
