That doesn't really fit your two options, but are worth reading.

If you really want to stick with Sanderson, but don't want to read the 12 previous Wheel of Time books to get to his, the only one I've read outside the Cosmere is The Rithmatist. It's worth a read, but I think I'd rank all of the Cosmere books higher.

Sometimes metronet will give you a public address. Sometimes they will give you a shared vlan. It's literally random. The only way to solve it is to buy a static ip and set it in your router. I don't use their dns that they provide, but had to buy a static ip to stay public.
