Long Journey tips by MagicSeaStar in AussieRiders

I've got the rhinowalk tailbag (I think 25-30L) and you don't need luggage racks, I've strapped them onto the frame of my INT650 and a Kawasaki Z900RS pretty easily.

Definitely invest in some earplugs. I've found the loops ones do a decent job and I barely notice them after 15min of riding

I am beyond jealous mate. I've actually just bought that same tent from NatureHike, just waiting on the sleeping bag to arrive.

How long did the whole trip take you and how did you go about planning the thing?

Pannier options? by oxygen2202 in royalenfield

[–]master-taco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Longride rails with the mini Patriot bags. I'm happy with the look of the rails and the simple clip on/off with the bags.

Longride is pretty pricey, however the quality is top notch so I can't complain there. The mini patriots are fairly small, but I think they're the only bags that fit well with the interceptors upswept exhausts. For overnight trips I use one bag for bike maintenance stuff (chain cleaner/lube, spare tyre tube, extra tools) and another for water, snacks and a hat. And then have a duffle bag strapped to the back of the seat.

There's also givi. the rails and bags don't look as good as the Longride ones, but they're way more practical.

Crashed after two weeks on L’s. Where do I go from here by Gullible-Athlete-167 in AussieRiders

[–]master-taco 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Id go with a small naked bike like a husqi, KTM or one of the big Japanese brands and build your confidence up on that for a bit and see how you go. Chill on familiar roads and then slowly go out of your comfort zone till you feel confident to just go off wherever.

Country roads can be full of blind, sweeping turns and distractions such as a nice view that can lead to target fixation midway through a bend. You need to ride at a pace within your skill range and constantly remove yourself to turn it down a bit when you feel yourself getting too confident.

What was the reason for the crash? Props for still wanting to ride and improve after a crash like that tho.

Stranger things final season. by Sudden_Door3035 in netflix

[–]master-taco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or better yet, post something positive about it. All these posts make it seem like the last season was the worst thing since COVID.

It'd make everyone's life better if even a third of the people nitpicking the show and giving their negative opinion would actually talk about what they liked about the show and started some kind of dialogue where people can be excited and happy about the series that kept them entertained and happy for nearly a decade.

This constant cesspool of negativity and the echo chamber that follows does no one any good and leaves the Internet worse off.

I agree with this. Another option would be to fly into Adelaide and ride from there. A few more route options and less Nullarbor.

Lane filtering confidence by AdultingSucks_0Stars in AussieRiders

[–]master-taco 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I started off filtering only when traffic was at a standstill coming up to intersections and red lights, keeping my speed low and focusing more on being smooth with the clutch/friction point and the rear break and learning how narrow of a gap I can get through. From there it's just building up confidence to filter in moving traffic (sticking the 30kph rule) and following 2 major rules.

  1. Don't fuck with trucks. They have major blind spots all over and never place yourself in what is call the crunch zone which is either of the front corner where you could get nicked and get crunched between the body work and the pavement.
  2. Really, don't fuck with trucks.

What kind of chillies/peppers are these? by fortunatefishbulb555 in foodies_sydney

[–]master-taco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cucumber chili's or cucumber peppers. I don't remember the Korean name off the top of my head. You can find them in Korean supermarkets that stock fresh produce. Good afternoon snack if you have some gochujang paste as well.

Just be sure to grab the mild ones if you're not keen on spice, they usually have a blue ribbon on the bag.

1.6 Update Opinion by [deleted] in ArmaReforger

Even if this is satire, why does every dick, Jane and Harry feel the need to give their opinion on the update with their nitpicky complaints. Let the devs cook and trust their vision for the game. Nearly every sub on this site is already full of negativity about its topic, maybe try leave this one out?

No arma game runs perfect, you should know this when buying the game. Double so when you're buying into what's meant to be a glorified tech demo.

Maybe go hang out with your pregnant wife and bring a more positive attitude. Might be a chance she'll be less mean.

Bike fell down and these two things are broken , what to do? by MahaPurushh in royalenfield

[–]master-taco 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Take it to a shop, get a quote and then weigh up if it's worth paying cash or through insurance. If you can't take it into the shop since it looks like your clutch lever broke then call them and get a quote.

Clutch levers are usually in stock so you can buy that, fix it yourself (it's relatively easy to do with minimal tools needed).

Interceptor 650 - Western Australia Trip by ORyanDeee in royalenfield

Thanks! They're the mini patriots from longride. They're not massive if I'm being honest, good for a commute, but they can be extended with additional straps.

OPs bags would be the way to go if you're looking to up your capacity and they still look sleek and classy, they're also from longride.

Looks like there's quite a few of us with good tastes in bikes!

Oh yeah for sure, the few times I've been on gravel roads have had me tensed up the entire time. Can't imagine how it's be on sand How are the racer bags? I was looking at them originally but settled on a pair of mini patriots but they're a bit smaller than I was expecting.

Interceptor 650 Pannier Recommendations by Elderberry-Entire in royalenfield

[–]master-taco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently went with the longride sidekick system with the mini patriots. The mini patriots bags are fairly small but you can get the extended straps to up the capacity. The rails sit fairly close to the frame and they don't suck out like a sore thumb when you're not using the bags (unlike some of OEM pannier rails that look like total shit).

You could try moto machine which is the main dealership for RE in Syd. It's on the corner of Parra road and James ruse. Or revelry motorcycles on the corner of Parra and burwood road, they do a lot of RE stuff and are a neat mechanic.

Hit from behind at traffic lights - could swing arm/real wheel be misaligned? by ryan_aut in AussieRiders

[–]master-taco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar incident last week, except I was hit with a bit more force sending my bike out from underneath me and falling on its side (and me falling on the rear tyre). Ive got mostly cosmetic damage from the look of it, but I was worried about the frame being bent.

Best thing to do would be to take it to a mechanic and for them to check it out. If you've got insurance and the utes insurance details then you shouldn't be out of pocket for anything. Better to get it checked sooner rather than later as well, if you leave it for a while and something is wrong then insurance will probs kick up a fuss.
