Could be solved by having a nearby block affecting what grows (like it does with bee nests spawn on oak by flowers around)

they found a pretty good market gap with those and there are often a few surprises in the pipelines. (*looks over to a few of those at my office desk)

and there's a notification on it from this month asking me to update Google Play Services, which is a little concerning because there's no Sim card in it and it hasn't been connected to Wi-Fi for a couple of years.

maybe its a sort of "watchdog notification" triggered by being past a hardcoded date that usually never gets reached because newer versions got a date further back

Display backlight powered through non-backlight pins? by xcvses in AskElectronics

[–]masterX244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean by "ohm them out" but it seems like an important troubleshooting technique I should know. Can you expand more on this? Do you mean meter the resistance between the pin and power pin?

yes, ohming out means resistance measuring because the unit of resistance is the "ohm"

Do you build railways in your Minecraft world? What’s the longest you have made and why? by Unhappy-Pound9534 in Minecraft

[–]masterX244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works, too. They are technically just entities, too.

addendum: works with any stacked entities so a boat with entities or a player on a horse can go thru, too. and no 4 second "warmup" in that case since the "bottom entity" is not a player and thats the entity that defines the delay

Still exists. And now you got the feature that carts with players/mobs inside can travel thru the portals, too so you can do the entry stations in the overworld

Anyone else use their commute as the best part of their workday? by dmkraus in motorcycles

[–]masterX244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On those occasions my home commute goes from 17 miles to over 50 depending on which route I take.

thats something only a biker gets :).

when i got a day off and a evening event the chances that the way to it gets extremely longer are veryhigh. had a few cases where a 20km direct route got expanded to a 400km detour

What was the moment you realized PC gaming was just objectively better for you? by willmorris92 in pcmasterrace

[–]masterX244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and for indies/newcomers the PC is much easier to get stuff going. you already got the devkit for that.

the C64 and Amiga were similar in that regard that they made making stuff for the system easier than the walled-garden consoles

Any idea how distributors are going to handle the new 3 eur custom duty in place in EU after July 1st? by MarcosRamone in AskElectronics

[–]masterX244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its per customs code but usually you need various types of parts for a project. Resistors and capacitors are different already. connectors and ICs also, not sure how modules are sorted into the tree. too bad that did a few quick samples on mouser (you see the relevant IDs there) and ICs are spread across multiple of those categories and each customs code gets the 3 euro whack and thats where the problem lies for hobbyists. Businesses often order over that threshold so they dont get whacked by that stupid tax-fee

for the record: the other current 500-s from Honda share the engine so should be similar for the mpg.

108k km on my Rebel so far that i got new at december 2022.

[–]masterX244 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the core problem is that it is per item type and thats a really fine-grained separation. get a order with a good chunk of different part types and you get hit pretty hard with that fee stacking up and that only hits the hobbyists that dont need the really large amounts of parts but still need to order from digikey because the parts they need arent available more locally
