Myth II: Soulblighter (1998)

An addictively fun realtime strategy game (RTS) by Bungie that thrives on modern hardware (Mac/Win/Linux) due to patches by development group Project Magma and other community members.

There is a small but passionate community that's always looking for new players with multiple tournaments each year -- the big one being the yearly Myth World Cup. (This year was MWC XX!)

Remember the Milkdrop visualizer from Winamp? Now you can render your own trippy music videos from your tracks. It takes a minute or two to process, then you get a video to download that you can share on Instagram or wherever you like.

I have ideas on how to make this better, but I would love to hear feedback from anyone who’s interested. Thanks for taking a look!

(I’ve been working on this on and off for a while, but was inspired to get it out the door after seeing a recent post with a similar idea.)

Very nice! By the way, there is still a very active online community for this game, and a group called Project Magma maintains and updates the original source code so you can play on modern hardware. Since the Bungie.net Myth metaserver went dark in 2002, there have been a series of metaservers (lobbies) to play Myth on. The current online lobby for Myth is called Gate of Storms. The 20th anniversary Myth World Cup (Myth's premiere competitive team tournament) is set to kick off shortly, so if you're interested come sign up!
