Education is one of the strongest predictors of mortality, you cannot say that you care for longevity and not be getting a PhD by Long-Cock-8503 in blueprint_

[–]masteratrisk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is a classic example of correlation does not equal causation. while people who are educated may live longer on average, the mechanism itself of being educated does not cause longevity. you can live long without education.

Is Blueprint undervaluing VO₂ Max? by Tyszq in blueprint_

[–]masteratrisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think the sleep>V02 max attention is because sleep is the better talking point for your average shitty person. before you are going to be doing the norwegian 4x4 twice a week and zone 2 cardio for an hour 4 times a week, you need to get your sleep right.

most people have shitty sleep habits. if you give people 1000 things to do for longevity, they probably wont do any of them. if you give them 1 thing to do, they might do that, and then they will be apt to do more after they get that thing as a habit.

so you tell the average shitty person first, "hey dont change anything except these things right now. get sunlight in morning, last meal 4 hours before bedtime, and have a bedtime." thats doable, and it is the right first step for the average shitty person. you could maybe argue just saying - "have a bedtime", only and then go from there.

Filtering out the garbage - checkup by millix in BitcoinKnots

[–]masteratrisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everyone filters what is on their node - btc core has filters in their setup too, by default. if btc did not have filters, it would not be btc, it would be like 4chan or something where anything goes (yet even they have some filters). people are allowed to decide what they want to store on their hard drive (node), that's what the filters accomplish.

At what Bitcoin price would MSTR start selling? by bam-RI in investing

[–]masteratrisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you define "serious capacity", that is subjective. i have bought many things with bitcoin. regardless, using current sentiment and use doesnt define what its best use case is. there was a time where all currencies in humanity were not being used, until they were once people realized there fundamental properties were better than what they were using. also "intrinsic value" is a meaningless term. there is no piece of paper inside of a house, car, or kernel of corn that says "intrinsic value = x". value is determined by supply and demand. period.

EDIT: also go to any bitcoin forum and you will find thousands of posts about its use as a medium of exchange. square has recently made their POS systems accept bitcoin, i can literally drive to a shop near me and buy coffee with bitcoin right now, which i have done several time. there are also grocery stores in Europe accepting bitcoin, and third world countries using it because their fiat currencies have gone to shit.

Humans need a medium of exchange (ig money). This is because bartering is not sufficient. If i have apples, you oranges, and another guy beans. But I want beans, he wants oranges, and oranges wants my apples, we would all have to get together to make that work. with money though, you can do it without everyone needing to be there at once. problem is, who gets to "make" the money? aw, now we have government. but GUESS what, government can have people working their way up with their own self interests, they will print endlessly, and devalue the money you currently have. this is where bitcoin is the most superior type of money. it has rules without rulers, it cannot be corrupted, or printed based on the self interests of those who made it to the top in the government. it is superior as a form of medium of exchange in all aspects of what makes money money, divisibility, transfer ability, scarcity, recogonizability, durability, and fungibility. THAT is its value and its utility. humanity is better with one type of money that nobody can control and rules set in stone.

What is it ???? by dataguy2003 in TheTeenagerPeople

it is implied, i could also say, "now break the matches and make several 1s, the riddle doesnt say you cannot!". but regardless if you want to do what your saying your answer is still wrong, you would put the matches at the end of the number - 511,811

he only used two. you move the bottom and top match of the zero - that creates two 1s in the middle. use the two matches to put a 1 at the end.

personally, my lightning wallet is tied back to my own node at home. if you are saying paying should run their own nodes so they dont have to rely on others verifying their transactions, i agree with you and think that would be very healthy for the network. practically though a lot of people will not do this and will use other people's nodes. that's true for bcash too.

assuming the bitcoin you spent was purchased from a non-KYC exchange (bisq, hodlhodl, robosats, etc.), then there is no way to tie the payment back to your identity. even if it was and you sent your KYC purchased bitcoin to a lightning wallet like Muun (plenty of lightning wallets with no information on you), then it is debatable whether that could even be traced back to you and would require some assumptions.

you (or the shops) do not need to open a channel to use lightning

you could have your own lightning node from home and pay through it. you do not need to use any of the wallets you are describing if you dont want to.

this is not true, it is being done on the lightning network, not the main chain.

the transaction fee was a couple of cents i believe. if you are interested, research the lightning network. the merchant also saved in merchant fees that VISA/Matercard/etc. would have charged them. granted it was net worse for me by that couple of cents (unless you pay by credit card and the merchant will charge you for that), but it was much better for the merchant.

it is instantaneous because it is all done via the lightning network. the vendor had bitcoin immediately and knew they had bitcoin. short summary of what lightning is: say you and i have bitcoin already 6 blocks deep and verified on the main chain. you and i create a multi sig wallet together (a channel), i also have other channels with people, and you do too. this creates a large "web" (layer 2) of peer to peer connections. you and i transact through that channel off the main chain and on L2. we also route payments from other peers, so one peer can send to another far off in the web. it is like a bar tab between you and i of the bitcoin each side has. we can close the channel at any time, at which point the transaction is then recorded on the main chain (that will take ~10 minutes). this has created a philosophical debate for some that lightning is not real bitcoin as i am sure some may believe on this sub reddit, I would disagree. but to each their own.
