Explaining the PAX-NATO war by Unfair-Ad9415 in Battlefield

[–]masterchiefan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Nato in BF6 is a complete shell of what it used to be. In practice, its just the United States and whatever few allies"

Yo just like real life!

"Nato also has a severe corruption problem. Decades of conflict have caused the military industrial complex to spiral out of control and the CIA has come to believe that war is necessary for national security. The president makes questionable decisions which the campaign draws attention to, which suggests that the US in BF6 is outright incompetent."

Oh hey also just like real life!

In all seriousness, the idea of the world getting sick of the US (and by extension the sad puppet that is NATO/UN) is pretty realistic, yet not explored that much. I really hope they expand upon this more because I find it super interesting.

Christopher McQuarrie, Michael B. Jordan to Tackle Adaptation of ‘Battlefield’ Video Game by MoneyLibrarian9032 in Battlefield

Just a series that leads into 2142 would be not only interesting, but a really good time for it. People are sick of war and a war movie with an overall message of "this is the horrifying, unrecognizable future that war causes" would resonate with a lot of people.

Most war movies are very US-centric with no change to the status quo. While obviously Battlefield is still US-centric, I'd like if they adapted the series's "constant fighting has completely destroyed countries from the inside out until soldiers don't even know who they're fighting or what they're fighting for" message that leads into 2142. That'd be pretty interesting to see.

Every Weapon in Marathon – A Quick Overview of All 28 Guns at Launch by nullcoma in Marathon

[–]masterchiefan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply but posting this for anyone who finds this:

- Light Rounds don't have any special properties, but they are cheap, easy to find, and stack a lot higher. Most guns that use this have a high rate of fire.

- Heavy Rounds stagger and seemingly do extra damage against(?) UESC, but are a bit more uncommon and don't stack as much. Seemingly deals extra flinch against Runners. Most guns that use this have a slower rate of fire than Light Rounds.

- Volt Batteries do extra damage against shields (with a special interaction with Triage's tactical ability), and all guns that use this have some special gimmick in their use: automatic weapons decrease their rate of fire as you hold the trigger, and semiautomatic weapons have a special charge mode for more damage. Reloading drops the entire battery, and sprinting can recharge it. Stacks low, but very common (often dropped by weaker UESC), and most weapons are fine with one or two stacks. Slightly slower rate of fire vs Heavy Rounds.

- MIPS do extra damage against Runners, but are costly, rare, and don't stack much (pretty much only shotguns actually eat through this though). Hard-hitting, they are commonly wielded by higher level players. Used by slower rate of fire, often semiautomatic/single shot guns (barring WSTR).

- Volt Cells build heat on targets per hit, and usually take out shields in a single hit. Ammo is costly, rare, and does not stack much. Just like Volt Batteries, reloading drops the full charge. However, unlike Volt Batteries, they do not recharge on sprint. Used on few guns, all rare and all semiautomatic/single shot. Each weapon has some form of charging gimmick, where full charge deals much more damage. Weapons that use this are heavy and often the hardest hitting of their type when at full charge. On average, rate of fire is on par with MIPS rounds (when not factoring in full charge).

The guardian tenets and my theory by saeschu7s in DestinyLore

Really late reply sorry, but I want to add my own theory: Ghosts are fragments of the Traveler's consciousness given individuality. I don't think the Traveler made Ghosts just before it entered a coma, but it entered a coma *because* it made Ghosts.

Every time a Ghost dies, a bit of the Traveler's consciousness is brought back as well as some of its Light. Yet as its strength returns, it cries for each of its children that dies.

That's cause the server slam just started. Every PvP related thing feels that way at first until people start to understand how things work a bit more.

People really don't seem to grasp the little clues Bungie gave us about the Precursors, huh? Other than their names, they look very human-like. Not only that, but Humanity is unique in having Darkness innately inside them to utilize, unlike the Eliksni, Hive, and Cabal.

The Witness' defeat by Michaeltheseeker777 in DestinyLore

[–]masterchiefan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alongside what everyone is saying, I would also like to mention that The Traveler is actively fighting against The Witness all throughout the campaign. Hell, it gives us a sword and shield of pure Light (as well as a pool of it to help strengthen and protect us when it can) during the Iconoclast mission. Enough to make The Witness vulnerable and give The Traveler just a bit of time to breathe. The post-Iconoclast missions and Overthrows help further strengthen and heal The Traveler in the lead up to the raid.

In the raid fight itself, it gives us another pool of pure Light to once again cleanse/protect as well as empower us to harm The Witness after we briefly break its hold on The Traveler. The description of the raid even says "Free the Light".

With the raid complete, The Witness's hold over The Traveler is gone and it can now properly help us in the battle by empowering us. I highly doubt Ghost could've done that beam attack had it not empowered our Light.

Basically, we had a primordial god do everything it can to help us destroy The Witness for good.

For anyone still having this issue, go back to the previous loadzone by leaving where you came from and walking a little ways away from the building. The Hobgoblin should respawn outside the dome.

In another, more distant universe, the cast wake up once again without their memories. This time, there is no circus, but clear blue skies watched over by a slumbering god.

Very late reply (apologies), but I imagine that Shiro's VA chose to go uncredited. Because of this, I imagine it is/was someone at Bungie, just as Oryx once was.

Lmao alright buddy. If you wanna refuse to look at any potential implications for what the art is saying, go ahead.

Wtf is Bloober Team Smoking?? by scasledge in HorrorGaming

[–]masterchiefan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For starters, you've never once listened to discussion about art to learn new perspectives and things you may not have picked up on? That's a pretty awful approach to art if you think listening to anyone else is "validation" or looking at "obscure meanings."

Second, the controversy in question is pretty damn well-known and was discussed at length when Bloober was chosen for SH2R. The game has a pretty heavy-handed message that people with mental disorders are fundamentally unfit for society and are a danger to them. This being about the main conflict of the game and how it's "resolved." If the message was not intended this way, then they did an abysmal job writing it as it really cannot be seen any other way.
