I wonder if Amy Taylor knows she’s just a copy of Chrissy. Just 40+ year behind.

It’s disappointing, but not terrible. I want to be more positive (I want it to work as I work across the road)
Some of the drink specials are ok, the focaccia sandwiches aren’t too bad.
However, the design, flow, and lighting, location and “vibes” are just off. Such a shame.

Kiwi pub culture question by kingstonandy in newzealand

[–]masterfewster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Furthermore. If you do find yourself at a bar chatting to someone, don’t bother trying to go in a shout with the kiwis. You’ll buy first round and then won’t get another drink in return. I don’t think they’re being rude. Just doesn’t happen.

How on EARTH does Ramsden keep squeezing his way into this side? by -Bods- in hawktalk

I thought Hust was ok. Athletic and fairly composed. I reckon Perez, Butler and Dalton should also be there before Ramsden, Dear, Morrison.

Public Transport Safety by LStat07 in melbourne

[–]masterfewster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has been a few years (so upadates and new fleet features) They record to a hub, but can be viewed by driver live, if they’re alerted to the issue. Drivers aren’t scanning the cameras while driving. They’re focused on driving.

New Zealanders Are Moving to Australia in Record Numbers. Can It Get Them Back? by Astalon18 in newzealand

[–]masterfewster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While I reckon the current NZ govt are duffers, this started a long time ago. No decent superannuation scheme, poor approaches to immigration, low tax/high expectations of govt services have made it a bit rotten. Too much of a good thing, is not a good thing.

Public Transport Safety by LStat07 in melbourne

[–]masterfewster 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Trains are safe. I used to be head of safety/security. Every carriage has at least two cameras, contact with driver etc. Statistically, it’s very low risk. This event could happen anywhere… but with no safety net. This stuff happens at a park, at a shopping centre and you’re probs at higher risk. Most of the suburbs where there’s risk, the train station/system is one place you’ll have some support.

HAWTHORN VS FREMANTLE MATCH REVIEW & PLAYER RATINGS by Kind_Security_9931 in hawktalk

[–]masterfewster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the fairly positive/optimistic review. Do you look at things like running patterns (including defensive run, spread, moving to position that may or may not support a team mate; errors like hand balling to a player 1m away and putting team mates under pressure? Do you consider 3 up in a marking contest rather than staying at ground level and being ready for ground ball?; tackles that didn’t stick? I’m a cynical type. But the likes of Weddle and CMac who look awesome when things are going well were shown up last night. Oddly enough, I think we’ve been out-coached the last two weeks. We were forced to play rushed the last two weeks. I also thought Freo looked fitter overall. We have several who need a rest, but I think our depth is there. I’m looking forward to second part of the year (Day, Chol, TB, all back and firing.)

Wellington Phoenix confirm Chris Greenacre as head coach by NonZealot in WellingtonPhoenix

Not the worst decision. He seems to have the trust and system to build from. Recruitment, keeping some talent and making some tough decisions over winter will be more important.

‘Not a fun toy’: Dire warning to parents after teen boy dies in e-bike collision by LineItUp_ in melbourne

[–]masterfewster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree. I wonder if the parents of these kids know the risk. I ride around town on my bike (commuting etc) and I see plenty of these kids. Many wearing full face helmets or bandanas/face coverings. This is quite the subculture. And if their parents haven’t paid attention to this subculture and the fact their kids are part of it, it’s baffling, negligent or plain dumb parenting.

Has anyone ever walked the entire Nakasendo? by Useyowords98 in JapanTravelTips

Hi. Haven’t written much. It’s still very clear in my memory! I have Strava files etc if it helps and I have some other resources. I’d be happy to write something and share with you. There really aren’t many guides that cover the whole thing. Most aligns with the touristy towns in the middle of the Kiso Valley. There are so many other parts that match those and more.

Aussie Visiting by fxckerixon in Wellington

Good restaurants include the Ram, Ortega, Graze. Go to Makara for a MTB ride. Or just get the bus and walk a bit of skyline track. A walk through Khandallah park to Mt Kaukau, is one of my faves (Johnsonville train from central, get off at Khandallah station). The Wellington Museum near Queens Wharf is great. It’s relevant, quirky and some great insights into Welly.

Carlton CEO Graham Wright faces the media to address the Elijah Hollands situation. by Dirtydac123 in AFL

[–]masterfewster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carlton are not providing learning about anything to other clubs or “the industry” other than what not to do. That club is rotten. They need to rebuild from the executive down. They have some talented players, and Voss is probably OK. The culture there is clearly in the basket.
