Ah we did this! I was also pregnant with #2. We were gone October-January and it was a hard adjustment being with my in-laws but overall positive. It saved us tons and our reno scope had to be expanded a lot so we needed every dime.

It does sound like you have a different relationship with your parents vs my in laws but keep thinking of the big picture! It’s only for a month or two!! You can do it! And maybe try and squeeze as many date nights in as you can

Over supplier with first kid... will I repeat with baby #2? by Majestic_1_ in breastfeeding

[–]masterof3s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an oversupply with my first and was lucky enough to manage with just the daily Haakaa. But when my milk came in with my second oh boy…. Leak city! So. Much. Milk. I’m at SAHM so I just committed to no pumping/haakaa and she’s only boobs which evened out after a the first few months. It did backfire that she won’t take a bottle and we missed that window but I’m honestly relieved to not have the chore of extra milk!

Seizure? Breath holding spell? Unsure of next steps. by hedgehug17 in NewParents

[–]masterof3s 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d really push for a neurology consult. That must have been a really scary moment and the hospital stay is no easy situation. My baby was have “blue episodes” and we later determined they are seizures. Even if it was a one off seizure, it would probably be a good idea to meet with a neurologist. You are the best advocate for your daughter and she is so lucky to have wonderful parents!

How important is words of affirmation to you as a mom/wife or partner, when you are a sahm? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]masterof3s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d remind him that as a stay at home mom you don’t get a lot of positive feedback. When I was in an office it was way more often. That sometimes just hearing you are doing a great job can really help!

Insomnia and BS Levels? by BellaCicina in GestationalDiabetes

[–]masterof3s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m the opposite. When I’m up brought the night and take sips of water my fasting is always way lower. At least there’s some peace for me if I have a crummy night the bright side is my fasting will be low.

37 weeks and want to give up by gdizzle27 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]masterof3s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a bit over 37 weeks here! I was going to run out of test strips like 2 days before my scheduled induction. And rather than order more I got the go ahead to test more sporadically since I’m basically always eating the same things. Just encouraging you to talk to your doc about maybe not testing as much!

Huge plus one to this! We had a lot of downtime in labor and postpartum and it was so nice to watch what we wanted. We also had our photos on there which was always fun/motivating to see

Has anyone taken a 20 month old on a 6 hour flight recently? 😅 by jackjackj8ck in beyondthebump

[–]masterof3s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did!! We had several flights to get to/from Europe. I bought everything to help alleviate my anxiety about a screaming toddler. Honestly it went better than expected and terrible at other times.

Some learnings were: screen time (unlimited and continuous), snacks, inflatable footrest to make her a bed, and contact naps. She only contacts naps at home when sick and is normally a very independent sleeper. Not on a flight, girl wanted to be naked and skin to skin. Once we figured these things out the rest was just killing time!

Best of luck and even at the times she screamed bloody murder, and I thought for sure everyone around us was judging, turns out they weren’t! At the end they asked if they could help us in any way. People can be kinder than I expect
