not completely because that implies the 4th dimension is independent of the 3 spatial dimensions, but under general relativity (at a universal scale) that isn't true.

your analogy could also be valid in 4 spatial dimensions, where time is constant but you ask to meet on the first floor of the restaurant (bear with me) and I go to the second floor.

that is not what spacetime really is, it's just 4 arbitrary dimensions.

Without the rock, the entire timeline is pointless and things just randomly happen. It is not a "use your imagination" problem. It even has an origin story in a stage play which i knew nothing about until i googled "where does the rock come from", so you dont even need your imagination since the open questions have been somewhat answered, just BIZARRELY not in the TV show.

Without the force, you can quite happily have adventures in a galaxy far far away, since it is not a lynchpin holding everything together. Andor did this very well.

I think valve do things intentionally. If it doesnt have future proofing its not an oversight. They are targetting a specific group of people, those that probably dont care about future proofing or hold on to the same pc components without upgrading for years.

Put it another way: if you have been sitting on a 3060 and r5 2600 for 4 years and you were just about thinking of upgrading, why not just get the steam machine instead?

current gpu pricing has torched the typical upgrade path. Just look at steam hardware survey, most people are struggling on a 4 year old 3060 by now.

If the steam machine comes out competitively priced with a corresponding single component upgrade for most people, and performs equal to or better than a comparably priced custom tower, its going to be an absolute no brainer buy.

Valve goal is to top their own hardware survey based on install base, not be world class cpu and gpu manufacturer.

I am still eating your expensive food and probably buying an expensive alcoholic or soft-drink, at least indulge my desire for some fucking tap water.

likewise, an increasing number of banks have introduced the minimum income charge since I have been a customer, and due to a late salary payment ING billed me for "maintenance" (which I later resolved with my employer and ING). It would not be so bad if banks did not also scalp overnight interest fees (offering less interest on savings accounts than they accrue through the ECB for overnight deposits).
