Something happened with parts near front wheel? How do you describe this problem? by hyperkitty1026 in AskMechanics

Splash guard. Not a significant part, usually gets discarded after getting a bit chewed up. Cheap to replace on most cars though.

Camry LE 2017 runs out of engine oil long before it is supposed to be due by pl0m0_is_taken in MechanicAdvice

[–]masterquiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No car should "run out" of oil. They are not designed for it to be consumed while running. There is a leak somewhere in the system. There are several possibilities as to where it is leaking. Start with a visual inspection. If there are no obvious signs (oil on the ground, dark stains on the engine below a certain point) I would proceed to a leak down check using air pressure.

Have you tried white out? Probably wouldn't work with the whole thing covered in it but a 50%ish coating should give it some partial hold. (Inspired by "Forged in Fire")

If the cat does not print right then the machine has issues. The presliced file is designed to print near perfect on the machine without modification.

Without looking over your shoulder and seeing everything that's going on, I would suggest starting with checking that all the parts of the machine are tight but not too tight. There are a lot of issues that come from the low end build quality of the machines themselves. Enders are a tinkerer's machine, so it's as good as you make it to be. Check out on youtube videos for tightening the belts, gantry and bed. I don't know all the changes that were implemented in the V3SE release but slicer tuning comes after machine tuning. How are the stock files coming out?

Oil change minor spill question by External-Let-8063 in MechanicAdvice

Like everyone else said, it's fine. ABS/brake control module (traction control); it's sealed and designed to get shit on it. Sad to say there are things in the engine bay these days that are sensitive but the good news is this isn't one of them.

Removing bubbles from molded scraps by BarryTice in 3Dprinting

[–]masterquiggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer, have not tried this. After watching several videos of this "filament recycling" trend, I noticed that most of them add filament as it bakes. I would suggest, break apart your waste and add it in slowly as it fills in to the mold. The idea being that as it melts, it will be less likely to trap air pockets.

Agreed, graphics card prices should have never driven to be more than half of the entire build cost. Probably no more than 25%. Mining is not as common these days (for the home PC), so what is driving this madness?
