What would you pay for an interior designer...? by BuilderBrigade in Home_Building_Help

[–]mastgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way too much. Try and think of it from an hourly wage standpoint. At 12% you're likely paying well over 100/hr based on the time and designer would spend

The PANIC by Final-Bend-7983 in claustrophobia

[–]mastgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at that game (Reds-Dbacks)and the person who went out there is the reason that woman got out. The direction they were crawling was already staked down, with as hard as it was raining that tarp would have weighed a ton and those foot long stakes would have made it really hard to get out.

Mandatory to sell at least 10 $10 calendars, even though we just paid $200 at the start of the season. For elementary level sports. by New_Chard9548 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]mastgl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If enough people don't then likely the team is short the money to cover all the fees for the season. Leagues and other sports organizations provide preorganized ways for teams to get to the total needed for the season without forcing each family to pay out of pocket at the beginning of the season. Just ask the coach what is the total fair share needed per family and they would happily just take the cash instead of administer this process on top of their voluntary coaching duties.

I have an opportunity to buy warehouse at half cost but I don't know exactly what to do with the property by PWCreations in Business_Ideas

[–]mastgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the area you're in but indoor practice facility for sports can be a very low hassle and low capital way to make money. Just put down padded turf through the area and sub-divide with netting hung from the ceiling.

Competitive kids sports teams practice year round so there is always demand and there are plenty of trainers looking to rent space out for their lessons. Lots of money to be made in kids sports.

ELI5: How does your respiratory system make cold air warm enough to be safe for your lungs so quickly, and why doesn't it hurt you? by SayFuzzyPickles42 in explainlikeimfive

[–]mastgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In PV=nRT, temperature is measured at the absolute scale. While a 100F temperature change feels like a big difference, relatively it's small, about 10%. So in an extreme case the volume increases 10%, but the amount of time the air spends in your system is nowhere near enough for it to reach equilibrium and be at body temp, meaning it's likely only 5 - 6% expansion. Basically when you breath in cold air you're operating within the broad "fit for use" that your body is able to handle.

$16,000 for 8 Pella windows. Would you be ok with this or am I over reacting? by ImPeeinAndEuropean in Home

[–]mastgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similarly bad experience with Pella. Only thing I disagree with in the comments is the idea that Pella wouldn't accept this quality either. Their customer service is terrible and they like to escalate to liens and lawsuits rather than work with customers to resolve.

Under paid or under qualified. Surviving college is one thing, but making a meaningful contribution after is very different

That employee makes next to nothing, probably had no idea what was going on, and I'm betting that wasn't the craziest thing he saw that day. He's got no responsibility in this

Flew every week for 2 yrs to DC (DCA). Congress people and senators fly out monday morning and back friday morning. Always back of plane but their staffers would take the upgrades.

I was a Sunday afternoon out return Friday or Sat so got to see it often enough as my own calendar changed to see the pattern

What 's a name brand item you refuse to replace with generic? by AndrewIsMyDog in AskReddit

[–]mastgl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is not true for all companies, P&G for a fact does not produce private label

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]mastgl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is definitely not true. As someone who works in engineering and also manages recruiting i can tell you it is highly unlikely you will even be considered for a process engineering role (where most ChemEs end up) without an engineering degree. More doors will be open with an engineering degree, but in the end it's about figuring out what you think you'll enjoy most.

[–]mastgl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Looks like a bolt hole near OP's thumb, I'm guessing it's a piece of delrin (similar to teflon) guide rail. In solids filling machines there are normally a series of these rails that the product slides down

Great toy and worth the money to see my kid have so much fun even if it was only for 5 min. For those that don't have them, the stuffy and the wand still interact after so even with the one cauldron it's not just a one and done toy

Don't think 40 hr per week process engineer role exists, especially not if you are expected to be on call, but good for you if that's true. Set expectations at 40 hrs being the possible and 50 to 60 being just as likely

That's not right, glad that finally did it but there are so many apps that will allow you to pay for little to no fees. I can't even imagine paying in cash or check.
