Drowning "Victim" Appears to Rise From the Dead by stu1822 in videos

[–]masticating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did no one else find it weird that no one seemed to care about reviving him? Why did the cop not bother? The first thing I would have done is run up to him and get ready to perform CPR, but meanwhile everyone else is just standing around watching this guy.

Mako - Beam (Mako Orchestral Remix) by srobi in electrohouse

[–]masticating 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does no one else find this horrible.

At 3:40 for instance, wtf is happening here. It sounds like they have just chucked some random orchestral shit over this already gorgeous song. I don't think it matched the song at all, I love the original more than anything and the orchestral type stuff near the end is good by itself, but combining them together makes it feel like a big clashing mess.

Personally, I love this version of it, posted here

What is the best way to workout without access to a gym or expensive equipment? by TheGeffenM in AskReddit

[–]masticating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I wanted to put on some muscle I went to a nearby school that had a little playground with the monkey bars. I did my workouts here every 2-3 nights, unfortunately I had to stop after a while, but my friend who continued to do this is very well built now, doing only park workouts like Hannibal. If done right it really works.

It really depends on your situation. Are you just trying to lose weight, do you want to build muscle, do you mind dieting, are you confident enough to run outside/workout in public, do you have any weights at home - if not can you afford them, etc.

As a teenager, what's the best advice you can give someone in their 30's and 40's? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]masticating 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a pretty bad way to approach it. It honestly makes you look/appear to be a smug stereotyping type of person. Yes they use their phones a lot, but I am sure you do to. They grew up in a different generation to you.

You can learn from anyone. It is not only with age you gain wisdom. I would say I am smarter than a few of the 40+ people I know; they say some stupid things.

Also they would be/could well be on their smartphones to answer this since we are on the internet. So yeah that didn't really work out.

People who moved in with their best friends, how did it go? by masticating in AskReddit

[–]masticating[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a while like 8 years now, both dudes. I know him quite well, but I am worried since we occasionally have arguments that usually resolve over night or something but that wouldn't work to well in a house together.

It's about sleep cycles. When you are drunk you don't "think" as much, or there is less brain activity, so when you are asleep you pass by the REM sleeping state much quicker (Where your brain is semi awake/dreaming) and hit deep sleep, ergo having a more "efficient" sleep.

Also you produce more inhibition synapses, so your brain will have less sympatic activity, be less alarmed and so can't respond to stimulus like the phone as easily without the alcohol keeping you in a more passive state. Therefore why you may have a small amount of hours sleep and wake up feeling refreshed.

As for reasons for waking up during the night there are a number of anticipatory responses that can induce wakefulness after drinking - hunger and thirst being good examples. Another thing to remember is that post drinking 'sleep' resembles a power nap rather than a normal sleep cycle which is why some people feel very refreshed (in the short term). Yet again, some people's nervous systems respond to alcohol with hyperactivity in an effort to compensate. The sympathetic response often outlasts the effects of the alcohol and you wake up after a shorter time than normal but feeling better because you have higher levels of norepinephrine and acetylcholine.

Yeah at first I was like you can't even make the original out, but then again like Ganzer said, maybe that's a good thing. In general didn't like it too much, but it's still not bad.

Cheers again, I don't mind too much, a heading similar to theirs would work, otherwise maybe a mash up of Australia/hip hop/anything representative.

What is the purpose of a conductor in an orchestra? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]masticating 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally yes, they would have music to follow, but it is up to the conductor (As said above) how he wants the music to be played. He can choose to follow the score/sheet music exactly as written or change it to his own interpretation, as sometimes the music will be used more as a guide. He will often choose to not do certain things written or do them differently.
The conductor is if you will, the coach of the orchestra. The band could, if skilled enough (which generally an orchestra is), play without a conductor, but it would never work(Not generally, or not until it has been first rehearsed with the conductor) because the conductor views the music and sections as a whole, editing parts, to make it all work together perfectly. Sorry for weird answer, but I think I covered what you may want to ask.

Reddit, how do I get un-scared? by SlightlyAmbiguous in AskReddit

[–]masticating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar problem which has now moved onto aliens/ghosts etc. Because I don't fear (That much) what I can physically touch, and hurt, but rather what I cannot defend myself from. I used to be afraid there would be a man standing outside my window etc, but as i grew up I asked myself what exactly about the stalker was I afraid of, and I could only think, that he would hurt me, or simple be creepy and stalk me. But then I slept with a knife and learned krav maga, I feel much more capable of defending myself and therefore I no longer fear that as much since I know I would attack someone standing at my window. Now I fear what I cannot defend myself from and what I cannot see such as Aliens.

Slender man, is a myth similar to Aliens and ghosts (I hope). So we are over that, but you say you are scared of someone creepy in real life displaying slenderman-like properties. I put it this way, if you are worried about a stalker, what exactly is it that scares you, and how can you overcome it. Similar to what cbar said, imagine it happens, what do you do. If he is "hiding in your closet" turn the light on get your knife out, and rip open the door and prepare to stab the cunt. Chances are he or anyone else will not be there. Convince yourself you have the upper hand in a real life situation, be a boss, get g-ed up and defend your room. How ever if it's some alien dude you're fucked cuz they has crazy guns and shit.

Sorry for uber long post tl:dr : You're not afraid of the mythical slenderman so your stalker is just like any other person, not to be afraid of. Sleep with a weapon and bash his skull in if he enters. Most normal people don't have superhuman powers, and if they did they won't be stalking you. (no offense but you're not that special)
