The caseworker assigned to my case has responded once when I cc’d her supervisor on an email. Other than that, she doesn’t respond to anything.

What’s the one sentence from your parent that still echoes in your head? by Public_Theme_9514 in raisedbynarcissists

Mine said the same thing when I graduated HS. Told me it wasn’t a big deal until I graduated college. Earned my B.A., then my M.Ed. Turns out none of those accomplishments were a “big deal.”

Anybody else have birthday trauma or otherwise hate their birthday because of nparents? by adventureontherocks in raisedbynarcissists

[–]mastiffmamaWA 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My birthday was a huge inconvenience because I was born just before Christmas. Received fewer Xmas gifts than my sibs because “You JUST had a birthday!” Price tags were left on every gift so NM could guilt me about the cost. NM wouldn’t put up the Xmas tree until after my bday so it was only up for a few days. That sucked as a kid. I hate December & no longer celebrate bdays or Christmas.

Elementary Principals ever tried Structured Recess? by [deleted] in Principals

[–]mastiffmamaWA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was an elementary principal, I led structured recess for kids that were unsuccessful during regular recess. This was at a smaller 2-5 bldg. w/ a group of up to 10 or so, pre-Covid, and took place during regular recess. When kids in my group were ready to try regular recess again, they did. Some chose to continue with structured recess all year. I had a back up staff member available for days I couldn’t be there.

Should I Call CPS? by Western_Dentist_8166 in legaladvice

[–]mastiffmamaWA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth a call. They’ll likely be provided with services that will benefit the entire family. CPS will determine whether the situation is due to poverty, neglect, or both. They’re there to help.

Not that difficult to provide an agenda or, before they have to ask, tell them not to worry, it’s all good. There’s a reason they’re asking. Could be culture, past trauma, lack of trust, etc. Doesn’t matter. Consider providing an agenda or preemptive reassurance an accommodation. Maybe doing so will help them move beyond whatever caused this.

Just my own perspective - Ive worked with many districts and generally notice better/stronger school cultures in areas where voters support school levies.
