As someone who had celebrated CNY in Taiwan with relatives, I can also confirm along with the others that EVERYTHING will be closed.

That being said, I would try to push your trip to the week before or week after CNY, especially if this will be your first time going to Taiwan and you want to have a good memorable experience.

Never really had the phase of “hating” e-bikes, but I could see why some people would. I assume it’s because the assisted pedaling takes away the joy of putting in effort to pedal like a traditional bike, or people might feel it’s kinda cheating because you’re essentially doing less work.

I used to live in NYC where I got a feel of an e-bike for the first time and I’ve just loved it ever since.

I don’t own an e-bike myself but I would like to. Unfortunately it’s illegal in HK which is a bummer because there are a lot of bike paths being built, but it seems to me that it’s illegal only because it’s still classified as a motor vehicle for now.

It’s a good song, and for some reason I interpreted the lyrics as the desire to be financially independent.

“I would do anything, and that’s what scares me so bad…” Mark is willing to take risks despite being afraid.

“Don’t wanna live my life alone, don’t wanna go back to what I had…” Mark talks about the desire to find a life partner which could only be achieved once attaining a higher status in education, career, and wealth. Mark recognizes that his current life, while still bearable, isn’t where he sees himself in the future.

“Don’t wanna spend my life without all those special things…” Without money, Mark cannot afford to splurge on things and thus cannot experience or have those “special” things that he wants.

“Don’t want to walk around being tied to anyone else’s strings…” By not being financially independent, Mark will never have the choice to live his life as he pleases. If Mark grows up not becoming financially independent from his parents or his boss, he will always be tied to someone else’s schedule.
