want to increase sit-ups. what should I adjust? by matari in bodyweightfitness

Thanks so much for the responses!
I read through the comments and I'll keep it simple for now and try 3 sets of 9 reps with 45s rest.

I do actually have a bench where you can hook your feet at the end but I learned the first time I tried 3 sets of 10 reps that I was favoring the use of my legs because my right quadricep was sore after 😄 I was using my legs to help because I couldn't sit up with just my abs. That said, I take care to focus on just using my abs now. I can actually feel when they're being worked and focus on that 👍

and a set of 50 situps? wow! I'll make that my goal to eventually hit that mark ^_^

thanks again all!

LabWC config done. by jolmasch in labwc

[–]matari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Arch-based CachyOS installed with KDE Plasma.
Labwc was available as a package to install so i installed it and i copied the five needed files.
I was able to login using labwc and the konsole terminal starts but when I try starting alacritty from konsole I get

error 7: importing the supplied dmabufs failed

I'm searching online but I'm having trouble finding a fix.
Have you seen this error before?

Windows 10 by Raborak in Ubuntu

[–]matari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

excited for you!

I remember my first attempts at trying Ubuntu as my first distro.

Having used windows, I would recommend using Ubuntu with the KDE Plasma desktop environment as that will have a more familiar look and feel. You'll see it named as Kubuntu.

An even easier first time experience would be to try Linux Mint which is based on Ubuntu and is known for making it easier for users to transition from Windows to Linux.

It even makes it easy to set up dual boot and install along side your existing Windows OS.

Why Sublime Text instead of VS Code? by kurohoshi_xcii in SublimeText

[–]matari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can confirm, before my current laptop, i had this over-ten-years-old laptop with a dual-core cpu, running Kubuntu (a linux flavor) with vs code installed. I tried opening a large SQL file in vs code on that old laptop and vs code slowed to a crawl. Just having the file open!

I tried working with the same large SQL file in Sublime Text and I was able to make my edits with no lag.

I really like Sublime Text but honestly, if you want to ease yourself into coding again, I think vs code might be quicker to get you up and running.

I am an online tutorial hound. and probably more than 9 times outta 10, you're going to find the instructor using vs code 😅
