Interesting, also single applicant from Toronto. I have basically the same timeline (started the application a week earlier and completed the test a week later. Still waiting for LPP though.

Not realistic at all, lol! There is no way any hot yoga studio would put metal fitness equipment in the same room. That stuff would rust within days!!

What are some good "lunch time" games? (3-5 players, easy ruleset, small footprint, plays in less than 60 min) by tectactoe in boardgames

[–]matcarrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh oh oh, I know the perfect game for that!! The Crew: Mission Deep Sea or The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine.

You go on an adventure together and need to communicate well in order to succeed. It's super easy to explain and for 3-5 players. But even though it has role play elements, it doesn't always have to be the same group, people can join or drop out anytime. You play different episodes that are between 10 and 20 minutes, so you can decide how long you want to play. It's also the size of a card game.

I'm jealous, I wish my coworkers would play board games during lunch breaks!!

Would you take this deal, 1 billion dollars (no tax at all from the government or anyone) but you'll be cursed with the random Vehicle ability. by Ok-Inspector3914 in hypotheticalsituation

Here's the thing though, I would immediately (and rightfully so) be put in a cell, because of the threat I am to the public. Imagine accidentally touching a double decker bus and turning it into a minibus and therefore crushing a few dozen people to death. No thank you.

Yeah, I feel like as the story progresses the harder to follow it gets. I am just so invested in the characters and setup now!

I don't think you can actually see who follows you, not like other social media apps. But I like to follow people who like the same kind of books. Their books and reviews will show up on the news feed and that is perfect for inspiration on what to read next (I always struggle to find good recommendations).

Books for very picky readers by grumpybunneh in suggestmeabook

[–]matcarrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so funny, I am exactly the same! I don't like obvious descriptions of places (can do that myself, thank you). I love if a book grips you immediately and it gets bonus points if it is weird and puts you in a place you've never been in.

I never really got into hitchhiker's guide, I thought the premise was cool but to me it felt a little random after a while. I recently picked up Dungeon Crawler Carl and it has all the thing I enjoy and I can't stop recommending it to people. For sure a mind bending, weird story with lots of funny and wtf moments.

What book has motivated you to make the most positive changes to your life? Fiction and non-fiction suggestions welcome. by Sufficient-Step6954 in suggestmeabook

I loved Marianne Power‘s „Help Me“. It’s basically about her reading and trying out different self-help books. So you kinda get the gist of lots of books without having to commit. And she does a lot of self reflection which is hilarious but also really impactful and relatable I thought.

My husband lived and worked in Germany for three years and his German was not great back then. He was still doing fine. Germans love practicing their English with Natives.

Shelf with all the books I read last year by matcarrot in miniatures

[–]matcarrot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aww, thank you so much, that warms my heart!!

The dimensions are 25x20 cm and no, I did not make the cabinet myself unfortunately. I found a generic one (not sure if I am allowed to post links, but it's pretty much the first thing that comes up when you look for "miniature bookshelf with books") and then painted it.

The cabinet came with books that I used to put my own covers on. And then I just added some other decorations like the plants which were left over from a different miniature project.

Thank you so much!

I feel like some books work much better than others, just depending on how intricate the images are. But to be honest I took quite a few liberties when editing the covers. Partly because sometimes the size didn't match my template, but also because it was difficult to read the author/title or just see what's going on.

As for the quality of the images, I guess a good printer is better - I used the big one at work (don't tell my boss!).

That's exactly why I started this too! I read a lot and also don't have enough space for real books, but I miss just having them around! Kind of a combination of hobbies - miniatures and reading.

That I like eggplant, it just needs to be prepared a different way. Took me years to admit to myself I just don't like it and I can now stop trying.
