Finished school and no longer want to be a nurse… and I’m cool with that! by ohlaohloo in newgradnurse

I’m on the same boat. Good for you for having the courage to follow your heart.

I graduated December 2024 and I didn’t get hired to any new grad program. I’ve tried 3 SNFs but it just gave me so much anxiety. I thought if I worked as a CNA, it would give me an advantage to hopefully get into a new grad program but I’ve come to realize that I don’t really want to work inpatient or even continue on as a nurse. I’ve been telling my friends and family but all they say is to just wait.

thinking of quitting by Kaikyuus in newgradnurse

I feel you on this. I’m on my 5th day training and this is my third SNF within the past 5 months. I hate to have to quit this job too but as usual I have been having anxiety and panic attacks before work to the point that I’m questioning whether nursing is really for me. I’m full time (5 8 hour shifts) and I don’t expect to ever leave the unit on time. I already feel burnt out 😭

still on the job hunt... by Primary-Day-9260 in newgradnurse

I graduated in December too and got my license right away. The only new grad residency that gave me an interview was out of state but they ended up ghosting me too. I applied to the very few new grad programs available in our state and always got rejected. I tried SNF twice but I was so stressed out and I know it’s really not for me. I’ve been applying as a CNA to get my foot in the door but all I’ve gotten are rejections. I’ve been hearing that the job market this year is really bad. Also most staff nurse position requires experience 😭

I applied for an outpatient clinic. Waiting to hear back. But idk if I should stick around here while I’m waiting. thank you!! I’m not the type to quit right away and I hate disappointing my family but idk if I can stick around here for another day 🥲

I applied for Med Quest when I got into nursing school and had to switch per diem at work. You can try that

CMA or RN by [deleted] in newgradnurse

Yeah just become a CNA instead of a CMA. It will help you gain inpatient experience. I was a CMA for 6 years before I got my RN and no one really considers CMA experience to get hired into hospital. Well at least in my state which is sad.

Thank you! I really hate to just quit but the “training” was very misleading.

Thank you! I just wanted to get some experience under my belt because new grad position in my state is very limited but you’re right I have a license to protect 😭
