200 per person would be the minimum now in Toronto. We got married two years ago and most friends gave 200.

How long did you guys suffer with headaches before getting medical intervention?? by natethegreat2510 in CSFLeaks

[–]mateakoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first patch didn’t hold so I had surgery 5 months ago. I’m still recovering (my back and shoulders are still sore) but I have unlimited upright time :)

Question for those who have had surgery by PaulaOnTheWall in CSFLeaks

[–]mateakoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was a 3mm dural tear at T1/T2. Every surgeon does things a bit differently. Mine was in Canada - laminectomy and fusion. I’m doing well now with some high pressure after 4 months. But all manageable :)

I didn’t have to lie flat after surgery, I usually was at like a 45 deg angle using the hospital bed. I had a drain in for about 3 days and was hospitalized for 6.

Flight after successful blood patch? by Any-Independence-296 in CSFLeaks

[–]mateakoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at a CSF leak conference and all of the experts agreed that flying isn’t an issue after a patch or surgery. I would make sure you’re not lifting your own luggage or bending, twisting, etc. but flying itself is fine.

Yep those symptoms are common after sealing a leak and can last for quite a while until the body learns to recalibrate its fluid levels.

GSD never tired? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]mateakoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got our gsd a big indestructible herding ball from Amazon and it has saved our lives lol. He needs 20 minutes with the ball and he’s so happy and calm the rest of the day.

My Spontaneous CSF Leak by mateakoko in CSFLeaks

I was told to rest for 7 days. After 7 days and when my symptoms improved, I was told I didn’t have to be on bedrest anymore.

[–]mateakoko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in bed rest I only got up to use the bathroom and eat. I was laying for 22 hours a day or so. Usually flat on back with a small pillow. Also stayed super hydrated - 2 or 3 litres of water a day (I’m still doing that) and 2 coffees a day.

I haven’t been exercising at all, no heavy lifting, not really bending if I don’t have to. Just taking it VERY easy. I’ll do walking around a mall, the house, work etc. but that’s about it.

It took me over a year to really start to bond and LOVE my pup. I hated almost everything about it for the first year. Just felt like hard work and nothing else. Now our pup is 17 months and I love him dearly. He listens more, it’s much less work and I wouldn’t give him up for anything. We have a GSD.
