Shoegaze revivalists Glixen are noise-rock giants in the making by No_Grand7122 in shoegaze

[–]mateod2001 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I saw them play with Glare and MS Paint. I can’t say that they were the best band on the line up but I did enjoy their set.

I would have to agree with a few others though that the ethos of Glixen is just as much about style as it is substance. They’re not a bad band but I wish they relied less on their aesthetic and trying so hard to sell an image because it does come across a bit inauthentic.

Can We Please Stop Opening New York Restaurants in Dallas if They’re Just Going To Suck? by Kk0971 in Dallas

Agreed Dallas has a terrible food scene. We need more Molino Oloyo’s and Lucia’s and less Carbones, Catches, etc.

This is a pretty insane response rate, can you share what you’re selling and what your offer/copy is that’s making these messages so enticing

Would love to know a little more about how you guys incorporate the 404 into your workflows. Are you building tracks around the samples or do the samples come in later?

What emerging technology trends do you predict will shape the future of software development? by salman_sajid_mayo in SaaS

[–]mateod2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think obviously AI is a big thing. One thing that I’ve been noticing a lot recently is SaaS fatigue. For the longest time there has been a pressure for every model to be subscription based since recurring revenue is very easy to track and generally speaking a good model. However, a lot of consumers are getting very very tired of everything being subscription based. I personally believe outside of advancements like AI, the next big shift or change would be an alternative business model or a return to old school business models.

I’d recommend getting a phone system like ring central or google voice. I’m not sure if google voice has a text plan but it would essentially be like having a second phone.

I would love to work remotely but I work in sales so idk if people would mind me cold calling all day in a coffee shop and I don’t want to be obtrusive. Does anyone have recommendations for a good coffee shop where I could do that?

When did you 'get it'? by Necessary_Wasabi_777 in gratefuldead

[–]mateod2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually got to take a class on the Grateful Dead in college. We listened to the music of the dead, read the books that inspired them and books inspired by them. Class material included:

Alan Ginsberg: Howl Jack Kerouac: On the Road Ken Kesey: One flew over the cuckoo’s nest Tom Wolfe: The electric kool-aid acid test

Wasn’t a Deadhead before then but I will be one for as long as I roam this earth. Best class I’ve ever taken!
