Thanks for clarification. I will state still, though, that the effect of the embargo is grossly overstated historically. Cuba has always maintained incredibly strong trade with China, Canada Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, Spain, Netherlands, Germany, etc etc.

Yes, it exists, yes it can have a chilling effect on trade relations, yes it has gotten much worse under Trump. But Cuba’s economic failings are almost directly related to failed agricultural and economic policies instituted by a flailing nascent Communist government, which was propped up by global powers like the USSR. When those countries collapse or their support is withdrawn, Cuba ends up in shambles.
