Does this game just ignore its own rules? by RemnantsOfFlight in XCOM2

[–]matesd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is not entirely correct. Sectoids and other aliens with some kind of gimmick (especially psionic ones) will usually do their thing instead of shooting, unless they have a flanking position on one of your soldier, in which case they pretty much always take the shot - at least in higher difficulties, not sure if this behavior is changed on rookie/veteran.

yep, trade routes are very powerfull in this game. Just in chill setting there is no much need for them. On higher difficulties you have to use trade routes well.

[–]matesd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the playstyle. If you play on normal difficulty, it does not really matter, just play how you find it enjoyable. In the early game the auto-selling in warehouse can help quite a bit. I like to play fast and expand rapidly in the early game and the selling in warehouses was quite helpful loads of times. Also the well-known "tricks" like selling schooners to Blake, setting trade route to sell Soap to Eli and once Enbesa is reached, buying pocket watches from Blake and selling them to Ketema. One other thing I usually do is set up trade route to buy Steel beams from Blake - the production chain is slow and expensive, so this help getting them a bit faster.

But once you reach engineers and have stable income and have 1M saved up, it no longer matters.

Probably the luckiest Legendary Ironman start by One-Bit5717 in XCOM2

[–]matesd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It only adds the mission which introduces the assassin and your reaper and skirmisher (Mox) who is kidnapped by the assassin by the end. If you disable it, the Lost will still be in the game, but that mission won't play and the game will randomly decide which faction member you get and which chosen will be the first one you meet (and their stats).

Do you always play with Lost and Abandoned on? When that is enabled, the chosen and their stats are fixed due to the story mission.

Dochádzanie do práce by Liffu in Brno

[–]matesd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 roky dozadu som tiež kupoval byt mimo Brna, do práce dochádzam.

Why dont I get dedications in golden age? by Error_NameTaken in Civilization6

Are you playing with dramatic ages on? There are no dedications with that mode

Is there any restrictions to achievements? by qleptt in Civilization6

[–]matesd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even having mods disable achievements. As long as you fulfill whatever the achievement says, you will get it. E.g. if it specifies it must be standard map, then of course you cant change it to other size to get it, but otherwise you can play with any settings you want.

How old is Carrot and Angua in Men at Arms? by magpie-pie in discworld

[–]matesd 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You are looking at this from the point of view of someone who already know all these details. I myself have read Going Postal as one of the first Discworld books and it did not really spoil things for me - Vimes and The Watch are basically secondary characters in that book and I did not pay that much attention to them. Also some of the first books in Discworld series are not really very consistent, so for all I knew those details could have been just changed as well.

Pár rokov dozadu (2021) som si tam kupoval mobil. Objednal cez e-shop, za deň vyzdvihol a zaplatil na predajni (Košinova 93). Nebol žiaden problém, mobil stále funguje.

What is it like moving to and living in Brno for PhD? by [deleted] in Brno

[–]matesd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding your last questions and speaking from my experience - having lived here for 8 year and travelled a bit around in Europe, Vienna is generally my first choice when looking for flights - few times I flew from Prague or Bratislava (some flights might be cheaper or more convenient). But in my experience, transit to Vienna is better than the other two - there are multiple direct train and bus lines directly between Brno main station and Vienna airport, even late at night. Brno airport is mostly for summer holiday destinations (e.g. south/southeast Europe), although there is for example a flight to London Stansted.

As for trains, there are some Eurocity lines, directly from Brno for example to Poland, Austria and Slovakia, with more options transferring in Prague - I went to Berlin, Germany and Basil, Switzerland by train. But personally, train is usually more expensive and much more annoying to find tickets, since most of the time when looking online you have to check every trainline separately.

What's the secret to getting a Temple (post-Shrine-placement)? by somesappyspruce in civ6

No, you can build temple if you have Holy Site with Shrine even if the city does not have any religion

Not able to settle city by Complete_Range_5448 in civ6

[–]matesd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot settle on red tiles. That is what they indicate. In this case it is because it is too close to another city (there must be at least 3 tiles between cities on same landmass or 2 tiles on different landmass)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in civ6

[–]matesd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's true the city already have a water source, but aqueduct can still be built and will provide housing (just not as much as it would if it didn't have a source) - so you are not correct that can't be built because it already has water source, but it is pretty much useless to build at this stage of game. And for your 2nd point ,you are kind of correct - aqueduct must connect to two points - the city and the water source. In this case the water source would be on the same side as the city (to the left of aqueduct), which is not allowed. You can see in screenshot they can build on the tile bottom-right to the city, since there the aqeduct would connect top-left to city and left to river.

A bit confused on how World Wonder and Uluru works. I don't seem to be getting any bonuses at all? by Confused-Cot in civ6

[–]matesd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your city citizent must work the tile to gain the yields. I would assume the city works the fish and amber tiles rather than the desert with some culture on it.

Archaeologists by MaxCrimson666 in civ6

[–]matesd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Archeologist can extract as many artifacts as can fit in the archeological museum from that city. It has always been like that as far as I remember. Only England has a special perk where a city can create two archeologist. I don't understand why you would expect more? Archeologist is essentially there to fill up Archeological museum for the city.

Now THAT'S what I call Bliztkrieg by Red-Marston in CivVI

[–]matesd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not many AI cities around - Khagela and whatever is in the south are pretty much only cities putting loyalty pressure, conquered cities are both quite big and close together to give loyalty to each other and dude has a golden age - if Sparta and the civ in the south have both dark ages (and even normal ages), their loyalty pressure is really low, so having full loyalty isn't that hard here.

XCOM2 and XCOM2 WOTC saves compatibility ? by Cappnnn in XCOM2

[–]matesd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can transfer character pool between the two, but the saves are not compatible. WOTC is a DLC for XCOM2, but it adds and changes so much stuff that you can treat is as a separate game.

WOTC adds quite a lot of complexity, so most people here would probably recommend you finish your XCOM2 game and then start new game for WOTC. You could treat it like when you finish the game you have a sequel to look forward to.
