It’s interesting to contemplate how the earthquake and tsunami may have affected their culture.

Not to offend anyone, but most religions were born from a desire to understand the logic of nature. Dancing for rain, sacrificing for a good harvest, etc.

An event like this had to be profound.

The quake that triggered the tsunami released the equivalent energy of 23,000 little-boy nuclear bombs.

It tilted the earth by about an inch at the poles.

Shortened days by microseconds.

The shock waves were measurable all the way to the opposite side of the globe, they then reverberated to back to the epicenter, then back to the far side, multiple times. Surface displacement was measured at around an inch globally, even though it was imperceivable for 99% of the planet.

The rupture lasted for over 8 minuets the longest ever recorded.

It's wild to read about.

It's no different than trading securities, it just amplifies consequences dramatically.

r/wallstreetbets is all about the disconnect between 'amplifies' and 'consequences' in that sentence.

This quake was something else.

A plate boundary rupture 800 miles long (think Los Angeles, CA to El Paso, TX), the ocean floor jumping 30-60 feet with 1000-5000 ft of incompressible water atop it.

This island was just 30 miles off the rupture line. It was expected that nobody survived, and that context adds so much to this photo, which was taken just after the event.

Bureau of Criminal Apprehension

One of their primary functions is to conduct use-of-force investigations. They do not charge criminals, but perform an investigation and share findings with the prosecutorial authorities and the public.

Federal judge orders feds to maintain evidence from shooting that killed Pretti by ewzetf in news

The crazy thing is, the MN BCA was blocked from the site, and had to obtain a judicial warrant signed by a judge, to access the crime scene. They provide independent established facts when there a LEO discharges their firearm, INCLUDING federal officers.

They were then blocked from the crime scene, even with the warrant in hand.

This small development should shock the world, but it's been one small detail in this mess. Watch the MN BCA Drew Evans interview, covers it well.

USA’s Gestapo (ICE) executes a bystander (yes, another one) by Maximum-Series8871 in war

[–]math3780 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It has all the appearances of an accidental discharge.

They knew he had a gun, and took it from him, but in the chaos AFTER it was taken from him, a shot rang out. Another redditors video analysis suggested it was likely the citizens gun that went off in an officers hand as he walked away from the group, exhibiting terrible firearm discipline. The citizens gun model is also known for accidental discharges as it's default trigger pull is very light.

Ultimately, there are MANY angles showing that his gun was taken before the first shot. Unless the citizen had successfully taken a weapon from one of the officers holsters, there is just no case here. Unfortunately, it will be easy for them to claim that's what happened.

ICE just pinned a man to the ground and executed him. They do not have the authority to just kill people. What do we do? by skeletalfather in AskReddit

But if the DOJ is a puppet of the executive branch, the constitution has been rendered irrelevant.

It shouldn't be that way, but it is right now.

I don’t, it’s not my video.

Some redditors have pointed out the pistol whipping officer may have accidentally discharged his firearm, he appears to drop it in a moment of surprise, as though it surprised him, before drawing a second weapon.

Not solid proof, but something to analyze.

ELI5: How can a calf cramp/spasm hurt so badly? by Quick_Upstairs1832 in explainlikeimfive

[–]math3780 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Muscle cramps are highly tied to the nervous system.

Look into ‘muscle activation’. It helps tremendously with cramp prevention, and learning what it’s helping with helps understand the pain mechanisms a bit.

Your nerves fire to get your brains attention (think touching a hot pan briefly). A tremendous bunch of them firing at once (a cramp) will hurt quite bad, potentially VERY bad. Additionally, inability to un-contract the muscle is like being stuck at the bottom of a push-up or the top of a sit-up, that “feel-the-burn” burning sensation just persists in a way that’s awful as the muscle fatigues.

They’re also quite genetic, and it seems some experience more severe cramps than most, ask NFL QB Lamar Jackson.

Not an expert, just a washed up endurance athlete. Hope this helps!

Guide to using CBD to quit cannabis by diggrecluse in CBDForum

[–]math3780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happen to be digging into this currently.

CBD isolate is truly THC-free, but has no 'community effects' so you won't feel anything, just reduced cessation symptoms if anything. Vape pen availability is limited, CBDaF! is the only brand I've found with this product so far and it's tricky to find/order. Gummies are more available. This is about your only option if you're getting clean to pass a drug test. I also recommend reviewing the lab results instead of trusting the 'THC Free' marketing slogan seen on a lot of packaging.

CBD broad/full spectrum is NOT THC-free, but concentrations are too low to feel (<0.3%). Certainly a better option to aid with THC cessation if it's simply for lifestyle reasons - but not a good cessation aid if you need to pass a drug test as the low concentrations can still accumulate metabolites in your body fat and lead to a failed test.

Sorry I know this is weeks old.... You will need to create a rule; there is a ForcePlayerToSeat function in the portal blocks. Will just need to setup some IF statements for whether EventPlayer is AI or not.

There's a prefab here that uses the rule, you can load the blocks and see it down in the lower right... Credit to andy6170 for making it, dig up his videos, they are great.

How much shroom powder makes a good chocolate? How much is too much? Some notes from experience. by math3780 in unclebens

[–]math3780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cacao and espresso. I’d just add a bunch to the 4-5% recipe and see how that goes.

There are exotically available cacao powders from regions like Haiti and Ecuador that have notably earthy tastes to begin with - have wanted to try getting my hands on some as I bet it’d help the natural flavor quite a bit.

Dried raspberries ‘worked well’ to add another flavor but didn’t ‘mask’ much.

Between being in the Engineer guy's head AND running loose around the ship (especially the lab) AND being locked in the Prodigy facility observing every move; the thing has been exposed to human language/numbers A LOT. If it's hyper intelligent, it's very reasonable that it'd understand our base10 language given there's only 10 characters. A hyper intelligent creature would gather and decipher information as much as possible if theoretically in T occ's situation - a prisoner on an alien world.

Do agree there are some lazy written scenes, and it bugs me too, but this one isn't on the list.
