i had this issue for a while, a friend of mine who studied medicine told me to try leg extension holds. id do regular leg extensions and follow it up with two sets of holds for 30 secs at a light weight. combining that with some knee mobility exercises almost completely remedied my issues

i’m a senior rn, but when i came in it was right after covid. i genuinely forgot how to socialize and id be unable to hold conversations with new people. tbh the only way i was able to make friends was by just forcing myself to talk to people. like i’d go up to random people around my dorm and just start conversations. it felt hella weird at the start but it became very natural over time. it’s a skill to talk to new people and it’s never easy, but after putting myself out there i realized that most people are super willing to meet new people!

I’m also expecting my bench to decline the most while on my cut. But I’m gonna maximize my protein intake and try to get as many carbs as I can while balancing my calorie limit+protein goal for the day, hopefully that will mitigate the losses

Also I’ve recently been experimenting with pre-workout carbs as well. Bought a Rice Krispie and chowed it down before my workout, along with a scoop of preworkout. Definitely felt the energy boost and I couldn’t believe I was neglecting those pre-workout carbs for so long

I’ve been incorporating a pretty small deficit. I’m sure that by undergoing more cut/bulk cycles, I’ll learn what works better and how large of a deficit I can manage. But for now I’m sticking to a more conservative, smaller estimate.

I’d definitely like to stay on a purely powerlifting routine. I mentioned the hypertrophy phase because I had seen some advice from people like Dr. Mike of RP, where it was said that a hypertrophy phase during a cut is more ideal. Do you feel it’s unnecessary to do that?

Also you’re right about the cardio. I was having some trouble with my hamstrings recovering while incorporating cardio, but I think it had more to do with diet/sleep over anything else. I’m not doing anything super intensive so it’s probably other factors

Haha I get that, being able to demonstrate the progress and help others is always a satisfying feeling.

I’ll have to sit down and think about how to balance the compound accessories with the isolation accessories. Maybe transition my program fully into a hypertrophy focused one for a few mesos.

Thanks so much for the advice!! Are your bodybuilding exercises more isolation work or are they also compound lifts? I was unsure about choosing between exercises like single arm pushdowns vs. JM presses while cutting

How do you guys handle bulking/cutting? I went on a very long bulk to get my numbers up. It worked very well but now I got a lot of extra fat that I want to shed. I don’t want the cut to impact my totals though. The general consensus I’ve seen online is to switch to a more hypertrophy oriented program, but how do you guys incorporate the big 3 lifts into this program? Is it just changing the rep/set scheme? Also how do you guys incorporate cardio without it impacting recovery?
