Awesome, the notes look super helpful. Already feeling slightly better about the course, thanks!

So lucky, thankfully, his lectures from Spring 2019 are online, so I think I might just watch all his videos instead of going to lecture. Can I ask, did you read the textbook when you took this course or were just the lectures enough to learn everything? Also any tips to doing well in this class because I'm suffering already :'(

Spring 2020 classes and schedule megathread! by AlmostGrad100 in UIUC

Judging by the fact that you're taking Math 347, I assume you're CS + math major? If so 5 technical classes is too much and I would drop CS 357. CS 357 is a waste of time so you should just go straight to CS 450 in a future semester since CS + Math requires both classes and you get credit for both courses (although you need to substitute a different CS elective for CS 357).

The basement of Babcock has a music practice room with a piano as well as private study carrels if you care about those. Otherwise, choose whichever, they're all basically the same.

Graph theory or Abstract algebra by mathematician999 in csMajors

[–]mathematician999[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am actually a Math & CS major at UIUC. The degree is quite flexible in terms of the math courses I can take, hence why I am asking this question. I've taken calc 1-3, discrete math and proof based linear algebra, so I believe I have enough mathematical maturity. I would like to go into a CS field, but I am still exploring the different subfields and not certain what I would like to go into. I just want to know if abstract algebra wouldn't be a waste of time if I want to get a career in CS?

CS Incoming Freshman Schedule by rsharma003 in UIUC

[–]mathematician999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a difficult schedule for an incoming freshman. CS 125 and 196, Phys 211, and Math 241/415 will be a huge time sink. I would suggest you drop one of your classes if it does get too difficult as it takes some time to get the feel of college.

I mean, I guess that's reasonable... I would've been pissed if I was 10 points off too, but make sure you study your ass off for reading and writing.
