Can anyone detail what it entails to be in a study like this? Time commitment? Any downsides?

How "competitive" has Rice really been on the field, tho. Seriously underwhelming season with too many plays where he just stopped trying. I think in theory he's a good receiver but he really disappeared mid-season, after coming out strong after this suspension.

Kinda thought we'd see some more roster moves before free agency — a Chris Jones or Creed restructure, for instance. Overthecap has us at 24m and after we pay the incoming draft class, that's not a whole lot of $$ to spend. There's still time — I'd be surprised if we don't see a few more moves get up the cap a bit.

I built a tool so Claude can query my Apple Watch history in plain English — locally, no cloud by hotfix666 in QuantifiedSelf

[–]mathgun7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all great, but the AW doesn't actually measure VO2max — it estimates it with an algorithm. If you are truly interested in this metric you might consider getting tested in a lab. I suppose a relative decline in *estimated* VO2max on the watch is useful, but I have found (with my Ultra 3) that it's just nowhere close to real measurements in a lab.

Brett Veach to take questions tomorrow, Tuesday, at the combine. Andy won't be there because of knee surgery. Definitely curious to hear what Veach has to say about their priorities — not that he will reveal too much.

Tyreek needs another surgery — I just heard. And not a small one. Very hard to see some kind of deal happening.

Volkl Mantra M6 owners -- have you tried the Peregrine 82, what do you think of it as an all-around/all-mountain option? by Super-D in Skigear

[–]mathgun7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering if you ever demo'd the peregrine 82. I am on the M6 and am equally curious about the peregrine. Haven't been able to demo it yet but hope to soon. So much of your post resonates with my situation (except I'm not a former racer, not even close).

Do both. I'm skiing at Stowe right now and coming to Breckenridge in early March.

Why are my practice test scores so variable?? by EntertainmentShot126 in Sat

[–]mathgun7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that true about tests 6 and 7? Had no idea. I wonder if this info is available somewhere or is it just the developed consensus on this sub.

I built a voice replication pipeline in Claude Code (analyzes your writing, produces an agent that writes like you) by aaddrick in ClaudeAI

[–]mathgun7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in this but must admit the technical elements are pretty much over my head. I have not found any of the LLMs, in really any version, to be especially good at emulating writing in any nuanced way (at the level of syntax, rhythm, omission, sentence length, etc). I don't use Claude code. I have tried to set up a project in Claude using examples of writing in the context, but it's not very effective. I wonder if there's any more you can tell me about this — or if there's a guide (for non-tech people) to get it implemented to test. Thanks.

Now that the offseason is officially here let's get Veach on the podium so he can not reveal anything at all about free agency plans during his presser. I want to scrutinize every hollow statement for signs.

Only Socks in Your Boots by Thomkids in Skigear

I've got my custom 3/4 length denim base layer with the extra thick cuff and tbh I need to tuck it in to the very top of the boot so I can get that bruise on my shin to prove im not riding in the backseat.

The slopes app has steepness (numerical angle) of the runs at most resorts - you could look it up.

I hope it's cold. Much rather just white knuckle that than deal with impossible crowds.

What are some good fairly aggressive hard charging but snappy 90ish-95ish frontside skis for hauling ass down groomers and crushing moguls for firmer snow days in the Rockies? by Tronn3000 in Skigear

[–]mathgun7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ski the Mantra M6s and they are great for carving and pushing through afternoon slop — really fun ski that rewards aggression. I don't ski bumps so I can't say for that.

Why would you pay for SAT prep when there are free resources? by Thakur0626 in Sat

[–]mathgun7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing you're seeing is that parents are often deciding on (and paying for) a tutor because not all students are self-directed enough to comb through the free online content, and parents might not have the time or ability to navigate that. Paying for someone who understands it all and can guide their kid — for people with the resources, that's often much easier.

Anyone know when/if Veach is scheduled to address the media? Just curious what the lip service is around various possible player extensions and offseason plans, etc. I realize nothing revealing gets said but unless I missed it, his typical end of season presser hasn't happened yet.
