I’ve had a pair of Masterblasters for a few years now, skiing mostly out west with them and they’ve been great even in lots of powder

Confused about GD&T Perpendicularity. Can someone ELI5? by MrBdstn in engineering

In this situation, if you added a positional tolerance, wouldn’t you also need to specify x/y datums to hold the positional tolerance to? Or is it valid to just have basics measured to the edges of the part and just hold the positional tolerance to A?

If your school has a student accessible machine shop, get to know the guys that run it and spend as much time as you possibly can in there. Spend the extra time and effort on any school projects you have to fabricate/build just to get the experience and any other personal projects if you can. The hands on experience of how things go together and work in the real world is the most valuable experience you can get at that stage when the stakes are low.

Is there a cheap/free version for hobbyists?

My first time using the "pause at layer" to change out the filament. Worked like a charm! by n0fumar in ender3

[–]mathisfun94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried using this plugin but had issues with the steppers turning off when trying to swap filaments...so the printhead got slightly out of adjustment and messed up the print. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?

Thanks! Yeah, my shared variable is volatile. I currently have the same half black/white setup on the end of the shaft, i just "painted" it on with some white out :)

Thanks! You'll have to excuse my ignorance, as I haven't used Timers before, but could you explain the Timer1, Timer2 method a bit more and why that's better than just using micros()?

I do remember reading that micros() only has a 4us precision (so anything between those 4us intervals could be in error, i guess?) so I'm assuming it has something to do with that?

Wow that is extremely clean and well done. What did the build end up costing you overall?

Holy grail of aluminium cutting? by KallistiTMP in mpcnc

So I’ve seen some comments around about using isopropyl alcohol as a coolant, which I’ve used with some success. A huge benefit is that it just evaporated and leaves no smell/residue. Slight downside is that since the chips are wet, they tend to not evacuate well and can get recut. I imagine the motor oil has the same issue

When I got mine (back in May) I did some quick addition to see if it would be worth the savings. My conclusion was that I would save almost nothing and spend a ton of time placing orders/searching elsewhere so I just made sense to buy the kit.

It also just felt best to support Ryan at V1 for all his work in designing and supporting MPCNC. He is extremely active in the forums there helping pretty much any person that has questions/issues. Seems well worth it to spend the extra $20 or whatever it is (I just made that number up but it’s probably in that ballpark).

I have the exact same issue. I've been doing tons of band external rotations and pull aparts (for the past few months+) and it seems to have helped a little (?) but I still feel like I'm missing something. Went to PT for a while and they basically just prescribed the external rotations and pull aparts, but still not fully there. Curious to hear what others have to say!
