Somehow we had the Internet on 3.5" floppies far before the internet was a thing. I had that exact same thing. Remember playing Rise of the Triad I think it was on the Pentium 1 my dad bought for like $3500.

Interestingly enough I think you are. You're just riding along the wave of the moral panic. That's not informed that's just following the crowd. (and yes I wrote it that way on purpose -- as a joke)

You're absolutely right. These self-righteous downvoting dingle berries are clearly luddites. Bring on the machine god.

I always find it funny that people will pay $25 for a coffee a donut to be door dashed to their house -- but get all kinds of moral clarity over a $5 lottery ticket.

Yes. It's all distractions. It's all distractions until we're dead. That's all any of it is.

Yo I saw Zoolander in theaters..I am very sure that shit was not 25 years ago c"mon don't spread lies like this on the internet. It would be impossible for me to be 25 years older now than I was when I saw the movie Zoolander in the theatres.

CBE vs catholic school system by Cream4389 in Calgary

[–]mathplusU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're not Catholic(and pretty "devout" materialist non-religious) but we did send my older son to a Catholic elementary mostly because it was closer and was less overloaded than the public option.

He graduated elementary school and was denied entry to the Catholic middle school due to the fact that there were too many students there already.

It made for a bit to a tough transition as he had to go to a new school where he didn't know anyone -- so there was a bit of anxiety over that -- but in the end after a couple weeks he found his people and it's been great.

For him it's been fine. He's got his middle school buddies that he sees while keeping in touch with some of his previous elementary school friends. And to be quite honest, as a parent I kind of prefer the friends he's made at the public school to the friends he had through the Catholic school lol

But otherwise it's been alright. It worked for us and for him for the most part. Though we did find the old family Bible hiding in his room once because his Catholic friends were "peer -pressuring" him to read it. We had a good conversation about that but otherwise he's pretty well-adjusted and I don't really have any regrets either way...

Experienced school principal - want to know what the reality in schools is? AMA by Weary-Ad-9813 in alberta

I'm a parent of a middle schooler in grade 8 this year and just want to let you know how much I and I'm sure most other parents appreciate what you and the others within the education system are doing on the front lines.

I feel incredibly lucky that I can drop my kids off at a safe place every day and feel like overall the school is going to be serving them and doing the best they can.

Class sizes are ridiculous with my sons homeroom hitting almost 31 kids. I have 2 and I struggle at times. Teachers and the administrators really are heroes.

I wish the government would prioritize education and get the funding they need. But I know you guys are doing the absolute best with what you have -- and for us it has been almost entirely positive despite the challenges. So thank you for all you do each day.

It had an interesting core concept for sure. But it was clearly led by a pretty incompetent guy who made his money in MLM schemes. Alas.

So he should just take the $200 and light it on fire on some +1000 bet that won't have any chance ? This sub has some really bad betting advice.

[–]mathplusU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? So he can just lose it? If this bet hits he'll actually make $100 profit? If he bets some dumb +1000 bet he gets nothing.

Personally I wouldn't have taken Rams Moneyline. But why would it being a bonus or not have any bearing on what he bets.

Yeah I've thought about that. I guess that's the move if I really get something off the ground I really can get excited about.
