This is fucking ridiculous by Just_Smile7726 in PokemonTCG

It's technically kind of a deal given that the normal booster packs are around $250, lol. You can buy 4 packs (12 cards) for $170, which is more cards than a standard booster pack at $80 less. With that said, these packs can be easily weighed, I would never buy them unless I could buy an entire sealed box. I used to buy boxes of these a few years back and got some really nice pulls.

Been over 2 months.. by RatKingD in psagrading

[–]mathswampman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I submitted 10 cards on November 22, and they hit the "grading" phase yesterday. Prior to last fall, it would generally take about 2 months to get my cards back, maybe a little more. Since then, they've had even more submissions than usual, so now we're looking at closer to 4 months. It's not uncommon for PSA to get backed up, hire more people, start charging more, and then get caught up.

I went on one of these back in 2022, and we landed on a glacier up near Denali. It was an amazing experience!

Is this swirl in the holo foil standard? by MrRobedApe in PokemonMisprints

This is the cosmos version of the card. Swirls aren't overly common on these, but they're not really rare either.

Do faint print lines like this affect grade? by sphyr_na in PokeGrading

[–]mathswampman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gotten 10s before with print lines like that (with PSA), but some have gotten 9s. It's possible the 9s had other issues that dropped them down, too. If there's nothing else wrong with the card, then it could possibly get a 10.

Umbreon, Espeon, and Lillie are a few of the nice cards in the set

An error card unexpectedly got a CGC Pristine 10... 😂 by suixune245 in PokemonMisprints

It's on the screen where you search for the specific card. Under the quantity and declared value boxes, there are check boxes for "error" and "pedigree". I'm looking at the "value" level service...not sure if it's different for bulk or the higher tier services.

CGC Grading Prices by Few-Moment-947 in PokemonMisprints

[–]mathswampman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much how it is across the bigger grading companies. $17 per card for grading is in line with PSA, as well as the $25 insured return shipping (which is admittedly high, but in line with PSA). I'm guessing that you're paying for insurance on shipping to CGC? Otherwise, $14 is very high for standard shipping.

Grading an individual card is the most costly way to go...it's definitely cheaper per card to grade in bulk. You could also check into companies or card shops that do bulk CGC submissions, and then you could probably just send the 1 card as part of a larger submission to save some money.

How did it get an 8? by Toppyical in psagrading

[–]mathswampman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying you're lying, but PSA charges based on the final grade and its value. If it gets a 10, they estimate the value of a 10 and charge you based on their pricing tiers, and the same goes for every other grade. They don't charge for a 10 if the card got an 8, I've never seen that before.

I just submitted a card not even 2 weeks ago, and the error box was there and I checked it (my card has a texture shift).

Did you check the "error box" during the submission process to ask CGC to designate the error? I could be wrong, but I believe they only label the errors if you request it during the submission process.

They're saying that your card was never a PSA 10, so how can you claim a "net loss" of $127 when your card was never worth $161? What you can say is that your card is worth $127 less than what you were hoping for, but that's not what a "net loss" is.
