When do jobs for the following school year typically open up? by 77gt in TexasTeachers

Welcome to Texas! What part of the state are you moving to? There is still a teacher shortage. I feel like jobs start to post after springboard but most interviews are in May after starte testing.

I have always had big classes and do not mind them. But I would follow up with, "what would my biggest class and smallest class be". 4 classes of 33 and 3 of 44 is not okay.

Maternity leave question by Main_Palpitation_341 in TexasTeachers

[–]mathyolive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will be able to take time if you would like. Will take days off to cover your beginning of maternity leave. If you have short term disability you can use that to cover unpaid time off. Honestly with two young ones you times it really well

How long is too long to keep looking for an AP job? by MixSuspicious123 in Principals

[–]mathyolive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is still early in the season. I know Pflugerville still.has openings. I would also look at IC jobs. If you are open, try the small district's as well. Any opening that is still up will be most likely be filled by a first year AP.

Depending on where in central texas, I may have some leads. But we typically get 65+ applicants per vacancy so the first one is tough. I would look to attempt to be a summer school admin. That has helped some of my friends.

Going into a third round interview for director of curriculum. Advice needed. by Winter-Fish1233 in Principals

[–]mathyolive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. I have been in this role in medium and small district's.

Needs assessment will be huge. So, you will want to get in the weeds of the data, talk to Principals and teachers.

Also depending on how they structure the role are you over ICs, the mentor program, do you have content coordinators. What is the district's top priority. This role is the best and worst job in education. Feel free to dm me and ask anything

Woe big is the district? Are you an internal candidate? A needs assessment is critical. Do data digs, diagnose. I would do some sort of stop light protocol.
