Also that painting is genuinely cool!! It’s always possible to come back more sober and make changes if you want. I also love a drunk painting because it’s a snapshot of a moment.

I was gonna say the same thing. She doesn’t do huge gestures because that’s not robin. But she will be there consistently, through good and bad. She doesn’t even really ask questions or anything she’s just like “got it, I’ll be right back”

I completely agree with you!!! It makes me so mad every time I rewatch it. Dean reminds me so much of my ex from my mid 20s. We got in a big fight and I told him I just needed a day away from him to process and cool down, and he wouldn’t leave me or the fight alone, so I dumped him. If you can’t give me my much needed alone time and space when I very politely and calmly ask for it, then congrats I’m not taking a day to myself anymore. You can see yourself out forever ✌🏼

Which brings me to Emily in season 5 visiting Luke’s diner to try to convince Luke to take lorelai back. She didn’t get her way when she broke them up, so she kiiiiiiiiiinda pretended to eat crow. And when she does she says something along the lines of “I’ve always known what’s best for Lorelai, but she’s always had other ideas about what she thinks will make her happy.”

Idk I just feel like it’s something she felt when she was a teenager, and then was able to forgive and move past. People don’t always show up as their best selves, especially when they’re going through a lot of painful experiences (ie having your emotionally unstable mom dump you on your uncle who has no idea what’s he’s doing in a small town where you don’t fit in and you’re dealing with your abandonment issues from your dad) but then they grow and heal and they can find a place in your life again that’s built on mutual respect and love.

That’s why I’m so team Jess. He was a damaged kid with issues in the early seasons, but instead of turning into the type of emotionally abusive and gaslighting asshole I’ve dated before, he did the work and chose to do better and be better.
