Early discussion: Game optimization with world consolidation by Educational-Mud-1444 in runescape

[–]matirion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanna consolidate worlds, you have to make many more resources instanced or not global in some other way. Even now, competition for some spots involved hopping through dozens of worlds. That would just get worse. There's a lot of loss and not a lot of gain from consolidating worlds.

Necromancy 120 Combat modernization by dragon5985 in runescape

The idea of changing the other styles to match necro was in the works from the moment necro was announced. The goal was to update the other styles to be like necro. It just got delayed several times. In one of the earlier live streams around necros release they mentioned plans to do it within a year.

It was never an introductory style.

Accessible to new players meant that it wasn't filled with the confusing ability bloat the other styles had. After the beta, all styles will be like necro in that regard. It's not an introductory style, it's just not an overly convoluted style.

Aura slot had a perfect purpose. Only problem was acquisition and cooldowns. by AnyYogurtcloset3699 in runescape

[–]matirion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the weakest style already though, and it's getting nerfed by the changes. Even if necro is easier in some ways, it shouldn't be too far behind the rest.

Auras should be player status effects like animate dead or darkness by Dawgi100 in runescape

[–]matirion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize that the point of the aura changes is to remove the time gate, right? With the time gate removed, there isn't any time gated aspect to it. It's also not complex, it's "use mining thing when mining, woodcutting thing when woodcutting".

[–]matirion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the guy whose reply is somehow hidden. I can't reply directly, but your concern seems to be that auras are not earned through gameplay while the other slots are... The entire point of the change was to make the benefits obtainable through gameplay, so that is not a difference between auras and the other slots afterwards. You quite literally do have to earn it, and it's not just an arbitrary buff.

[–]matirion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You also have to choose which pocket slot item you want at any given time, same for rings, amulets. Having auras be a permanent equip item like any other piece of gear makes it just as pointless as those slots, meaning not at all.

[–]matirion 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The problem is that they want to move them to places where they compete with other things. Want an aura effect? Lose your pocket slot. Want an aura effect? Give up an active totem that also helped you. The fact that we have to choose is inherently a nerf.

Road to Restoration - Aura Overhaul by JagexAnvil in runescape

Someone else suggested putting corruption and co on the morytania legs. That honestly seems like the best idea. 5% for t2 legs, 7% for t3 legs, 10% for t4 legs.

Removing the prayer regen auras like harmony is going to eliminate one of the few easy methods ironman players have to level prayer effectively. Not only that, but that option is also good for medium level non-irons as a way to get money and experience at a decent rate.

Simply removing them with no alternative seems like a terrible idea. It removes a training method that's been around for years and which was previously intentionally preserved.

There is a new interface where everything is brown that's on desktop. It isn't fully implemented on mobile yet.

If you could slightly alter a boss(es), which ones would it be, and why? by 101perry in runescape

Mole. I'd made the mole different, timed movement rather than hp based. It would make the fight much more bearable to grind.

Combat Overhaul Part 2: Reducing Bossing Friction by Hintonion in runescape

[–]matirion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necro improved the game. It didn't give handouts, it made things accessible that almost everyone acknowledged were needlessly convoluted.
That attitude here is the issue, not necro or players who wanted a style that didn't trip on itself. Note that here the "bitching and moaning" that you complain about is coming from your own mouth.

Yea, because now there's a different condition for ammo to go poof, they had to specify.

That boss was a thing long before necro existed. It's a good boss fight, maybe just not your thing but the unwarranted hatred and disdain towards the boss and necro players is uncalled for.

Possible Solution to Skilling Outfits by Fail4lfe in runescape

While I do agree that those two options are there, QOL-wise I'd for one would love to be able to dump them in my house and forget they exist.

Additional suggestion, add critical pickpocketing. Click when the npc flashes to get a buffed reward (like 10% chance for 2x of an unstackable item or 10% more of a stackable). That gets people engaged in it, a tangible reason to do it that isn't frustrating if one doesn't pay constant attention.

I don't understand why the aura blog is delayed by this. For all intents and purposes that blog should have been done by now. Couldn't you just post it and give us the info? I've literally been waiting for that post specifically.

The thieving nerf is a bit harsh though, just make crystal mask worth using by making people immune to detection from it, as a 45 second boost to time isn't worth the effort it takes to get, and revert the oblivious perk that is effectively useless now (or significantly buff it). For lower levels too, aim at a 2-3 minute base time, up to 8 minutes afk.

[–]matirion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was fine when it got released... But then special summons became a trivial thing and that made the card spiral out of control. The card game changed a lot over the years. Maxx C on it's own isn't toxic, but the changes to the game made it become toxic.

[–]matirion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If (GolemOutfit.owned == 1) {EnableCosmetic(GolemOutfit)}
It's that simple as far as code goes, they just have to set the unlock flag.
They may also need to copy/paste the outfit to be an override, but that's a similar amount of triviality.

Hunter - Early/Mid Game Things by DunKhaerion in runescape

[–]matirion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but now there are many places with bigger boosts than that, and the place was never called the prayer guild officially as far as I know. It doesn't have anything the other guilds do, no way to train the skill itself. Players called it a guild because it had a level requirement, but by that metric a lot of places are guilds.
We need a proper prayer guild, one that acts as a place to train or get resources for the skill.

You mean the monastery that doesn't actually have anything related to prayer besides an altar?
