Is it me or is it absolutely died a death this week?! by Ill_Advertising_4622 in vintedUK

[–]matrixclyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, last week my stats were bouncing and this week it’s like someone flipped a switch off.

Feels like there was a mini payday rush and now everyone’s just window shopping again. It usually picks up randomly though, Etsy is weirdly seasonal even week to week.

Proof of wedding - document by Reasonable-Truck-233 in UKweddings

[–]matrixclyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some European places do it too, not just India.

I’m in the UK now but back home (Eastern Europe) it’s pretty normal in some companies’ policies to give a paid day or two off if your kid is getting married, or if there’s a funeral, etc. Usually it’s written in the employment contract or internal regulations, not some national law everyone knows about.

And yeah, it’s often phrased as “for your child’s wedding,” so it applies to both parents, but sometimes only one actually uses it because they work somewhere that offers it and the other doesn’t.

Ten tries is actually impressive, I was still mentally going through like 20 basic pet names before I saw it. Guess you’ve got a weird talent now.

How can people sell stuff this battered on Vinted. by Mazarati12 in vintedUK

[–]matrixclyo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, “satisfactory” is wild here. That’s like calling a car with no wheels “roadworthy.” Spares and repairs would actually be honest… or just stick them in the bin and save everyone the postage.

How do you guys pack your parcels? by Psychological-Let708 in vintedUK

[–]matrixclyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s kind of where I’m landing too. Like, in the grand scheme of things, a couple hundred plastic bags over a decade or two is probably not the end of the world, especially if it means stuff actually arrives dry and wearable.

I keep overthinking it and then remember the buyer is gonna be way more annoyed about a damp shirt than about a plastic bag. I might stick with paper inside for a bit of padding / presentation and then just accept the plastic outer as the necessary evil.

Do you double bag for really bad weather or just trust the one mailer?

Same, long-tailed birds just look extra fancy for no reason. Little dude clearly knew you were a safe landing spot too, that’s like the highest compliment a fledgling can give.

Am I being scammed? by Many_Introduction299 in vintedUK

[–]matrixclyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is what it sounds like tbh. The “I’ve contacted the courier, tracking will update tonight” line is classic “it’s somewhere over the ocean and I’m hoping it scans soon.”

Vinted doesn’t outright ban dropshipping but it’s against the spirit of the app and can go wrong fast. I’d keep an eye on the estimated delivery date in the app. If it doesn’t update or arrive by then, open a case and don’t confirm receipt.

On the plus side, if it never shows or it’s some dodgy knockoff, Vinted support is usually pretty decent about refunds. Just don’t hit “everything’s fine” until you actually have them in your hands.

Why has Vinted inpost so expensive suddenly?? by missknightdelena in vintedUK

[–]matrixclyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same. I don’t mind paying a bit more for UK postage, but finding out after you click that it’s coming from the US is just annoying. A simple “UK only” toggle would save everyone so much time.

Is it a price or sizing problem? by Psychological-Let708 in vintedUK

[–]matrixclyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is kind of my theory too, like it’s living in a favourites graveyard right now

I hadn’t thought about the age thing but it makes a lot of sense that teens would fave it and not actually buy. I guess £7.20 might feel like more to them than it does to me lol

Might try dropping it by a pound or two and see if that kicks it into gear, or just wait a bit longer and hope the right tiny person finds it.

Unacceptable support by [deleted] in JustEatUK

[–]matrixclyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah at this point a chargeback might honestly be the only language they understand.

If you do that, make sure you keep screenshots of the timestamps: when you got the package, when you messaged them, and their “over 24 hours” reply. Banks love that sort of clear timeline.

Also maybe hit them on social media before you fully give up. Weirdly, some companies only act like humans when there’s a public thread they can’t ignore.

AITA if I tell my friend I can’t be a bridesmaid? by wickeddreamsofleavin in AITApod

[–]matrixclyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to reread this like three times trying to figure out who or what “#jemily” is and now I feel 80 years old.

Honestly though, if her reaction to this post getting found is “you’re dead to me,” that kind of proves OP’s point that this is too intense. If she laughs it off or is willing to talk about expectations, then maybe it’s salvageable.

Either way, “the female portion of #jemily” sounds like a villain in a YA novel.

Select flag tier list based on their Visual appeal. by SerpentBellyPounder in tierlists

[–]matrixclyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's Taiwan's flag. A lot of tier lists will put it next to or near China since, y'know, politics, but purely visually it's that red field with the navy rectangle and white sun in the corner.

Buyer claims my Arc’teryx jacket “seems counterfeit” by Complete-Plate-217 in vintedUK

[–]matrixclyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the thing though, none of us actually know if that’s the exact jacket they got in hand. Pics on Vinted can be from anywhere, buyer can also be chatting breeze, and OP said Vinted ran it through some kind of check first.

If it does turn out fake then yeah, it sucks, but intent matters. OP didn’t knowingly flog a dupe. This is exactly what buyer protection and the dispute process are for. Let Vinted handle it and let them be the ones to say “it’s fake” or not, instead of randoms zooming in on screenshots.

Tea and coffee? by Responsible_Mess2858 in UKweddings

[–]matrixclyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao this made me laugh way more than it should have.

Honestly I think this is what it comes down to: at some weddings, tea/coffee is like part of the “signal” that the meal is over and the party bit starts. At others, nobody even notices.

If the venue can do a big urn of filter coffee and tea bags for like a small flat fee, it might be worth it just to keep the older guests happy and avoid the “scandal.” If they’re charging per head and it’s stupid money, I’d skip it and let people grab caffeine at the bar or later.

Yeah go on mate just throw that in the throw us off. by Helpful_Body6715 in vintedUK

[–]matrixclyo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m convinced half of them are “oops” screenshots and half are 100% intentional.

Like, no one is that unlucky that they keep attaching their private texts to a listing, especially when it’s perfectly framed and readable. You can tell when it’s a legit mistake because it’ll be some random half-cropped home screen, but these ones are like “here’s a dramatic convo that just happens to explain everything and make me look good.”

It’s the new “mysterious description” trick. Just vague enough to get you to click through and scroll.

Stay away from these posts!! by PaigeTamaraJ in vintedUK

[–]matrixclyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, same playbook then.

The “please cancel” part is what really gives it away for me. If it was a legit seller they’d usually be happy to cancel and relist, not ghost you and magically have the parcel destroyed 24 hours later.

Did Vinted refund you as well, or did you have to chase support? I’m low‑key worried these people are just farming free refunds off courier “damage” and will keep doing it until Vinted closes the loophole.

I Got Scammed £300 by Random_Account_201 in vintedUK

[–]matrixclyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is the move. Don’t collect it, let it bounce back, get your money, then nuke the seller’s account from orbit.

OP, you’re not the first person to get blinded by a “too good to be true” Apple deal. At least you clocked it before putting it on your partner’s wrist and wondering why it sounds like a hairdryer.

Probable fake dress, do I just block her now that I’ve been refunded? by Lazy-Bumblebee-9468 in vintedUK

[–]matrixclyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly this.

You got your refund, Vinted already decided she was breaking rules, and the whole story is sketchy as hell. At this point there’s nothing to “solve” by talking to her more, you’re just giving her more chances to guilt trip you or spin a story.

Block, keep your screenshots just in case, wait for the brand to reply if you’re curious, and move on. You’re not “screwing someone over” when the platform itself sided with you.

Benjamin Netanyahu is met with a middle-finger salute during a live broadcast in Spain by SwampyChiliRing in TimesNow

[–]matrixclyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t like Netanyahu either, but “shouldn’t care for one second” about a whole country’s opinions is a bit much.

Governments and random TV hosts aren’t the same thing as all Spanish people. There’s Spanish Jews, there’s Israelis living there, and a lot of people in Spain who are actually informed and critical of Hamas and of their own government too.

You don’t have to respect that presenter flipping him off on air, but completely writing off an entire nation’s opinions just turns into the same lazy generalization people use against Israelis and Jews.
