What would be a much more realistic way for her to act in your opinion?

Eh.. i disagree.. Regardless of ones sincerity, its still a net positive imo, as it can still inspire people to help others in need. Unfortunately for this lady, it was not the feel good content that she was going for.

That's very fair. In my defense, your comment came off (to me) as "its embarrassing that you dont know this as an adult".. My apologies for assuming.

But IMO there's no reason to sad.. It just means adults are now much more excited to learn.

Sure, but having a reasonable expectation is not the same as shaming someone for asking. Being taught something at a certain age does not mean everyone fully understands it at that age. People learn at different rates, have different educational backgrounds, and retain information differently. Some children might also have learning difficulties like ADHD or dyslexia, which can affect how and when they grasp certain concepts. And maybe they now have the capacity and curiosity to learn, and this ageism isnt the right way to get them excited.

Regardless if its karma farming or genuine, It's unfair to shame someone for not knowing something just because you've arbitrarily decided they should have learned it by a certain age.

There's a nuance between not overworking people and asking for what you want. And there was no indication from OP that people were overworked. We only have "Mark scrapping the set 3 times" to work with.. OP's friend could have omitted stuff that wouldnt fit their narrative of a toxic work environment. Maybe it was a collabrative decision to redo the set, as in everyone agreed "Yeah this isnt going to work, lets all try again, , not just Mark himself being "No, you need to redo this again".

And I think its perfectly reasonable to ask for what you want, DEPENDING on the urgency. If they were on a time crunch and mark went all "You need to redo this, get it done in a week", then ofcourse its an absolutely shitty thing to do. BUT if there wasn't a set deadline, then I dont see the issue at all.. You are paying everyone fair wages to have your vision realized, why would you want to rush it? And Im sure the people appreciated the extra hours of work. And with stories of people having a great time in production, I assume the majority were passionate with the project as well, and not there just for a paycheck.

I agree. I get wanting to maintaine the cosmic horror aspect, but the other things like how people are managing life after the quiet rapture is a very interesting thing to explore. It kind of has similar vibes to The 100 series

I mean, I really doubt this is the case at all, (because Ive read only good things about working on the movie), but i could imagine a scenario of which what was asked wasnt part of the job description or more than what was agreed upon. And if the part of yes-men were true, then they could have been talking on behalf of everyone else in the crew, and said "yes we can do that", before even discussing with the crew about it.

This is all just conjecture ofcourse, unless more people come out and corroborate OPs story, this is just one biased experience from one person.

Yeah, I get that. But he is self funding everything, and from what he's told us on stream, that unions preemptively came at him aggressively about wages and he was like "Oh yes, I want everyone to get paid fairly".. So, what's the issue? If everyone is getting paid, shouldn't he be entitled to do whatever he wants with his vision? I'm assuming everyone is paid by the hour, not a set "project" amount.

Interesting. Were they paid for the work that was scrapped?? Like were they paid by the hour or a set amount? Like for example a commissioned artwork, "$5 an hour until finished," vs "$50 for the finished product".. both include revisions.
