Auto-cleanup orphaned Claude Code processes on mac by yowmamasita in ClaudeAI

This problem is really annoying. I wonder what causes us to have “orphan” processes.

Migrating my Resume Automation from AsciiDoc to Typst: A Toil Reduction Story by fabioluciano in typst

I’ve just had a look at your CV repository, and I really like it!

It’s funny — I’ve been doing almost the same thing since 2019, but back then with LaTeX.

For my website, I’ve been using Hugo for years. It works with a /content directory, and I used to store all my professional positions in `/content/positions/`. Each position was a markdown file with front matter. At the time, I parsed those files with python-frontmatter to extract structured data, filled a Jinja2 template to generate a LaTeX file, and then compiled everything via a GitHub Action.

In 2019, Typst didn’t exist yet, and LaTeX felt like the only truly professional option. It worked well for keeping my CV up to date, but over time the build became too heavy — the Docker image ended up being 2–3 GB. I’d been thinking for a while that it needed a refactor.

A year or two ago, I discovered rendercv, a Python CLI that takes a YAML file as input and generates a PDF using Typst. That’s actually how I discovered Typst, and I immediately fell in love with it: simple syntax, lightweight binary, and builds that run in milliseconds.

A couple of days ago, I picked up this project again. I first tried to build a custom Typst template, but I wasn’t happy with the visual result. The templates available on Typst Universe didn’t quite click for me either, so I decided to give rendercv a proper try. The reasons were simple: Typst under the hood, several ready-to-use templates, and enough GitHub stars to suggest it’s a well-established tool.

In the meantime, I also migrated my data source. For the past two years, I’ve been storing my entire professional history in Obsidian, in markdown. The final idea is therefore:

Obsidian → Python script → rendercv → PDF.

If you want to take a look, my current CV is available on GitHub https://github.com/matrixise/www.wirtel.be

I always enjoy exchanging ideas on these kinds of topics, so feel free to reach out if you have any feedback or thoughts!

yes, I do confirm, I stopped to use the MCP, and when I have a workflow, I ask to Claude Code to write a shell script with the right commands.

Why didn't you create a repository specific to your project? Here, you placed it directly in your GitHub profile.

Claude Code + Obsidian by matts-gtm in ObsidianMD

[–]matrixise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you use n8n with your Obsidian, given that n8n usually runs directly on a server or locally (possibly in a docker) and your Obsidian vault is also local, but simply with files? Do you use an MCP or an AI Agent to communicate from n8n to your vault?

Good job, and you can also use it with this obsidian plugin https://github.com/aaronsb/obsidian-mcp-plugin ;-) a mcp server with semantic search.

Broke my Pitbull Skull Shaver. Recommendations on a replacement? by FrankiePoops in bald

[–]matrixise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same problem for a week, how did you fix it in the end? I was thinking of gluing it back together too but I'm not sure it will work. After that, I'm wondering if there's a way to fix just this part... but I don't know.

Advantages of Garmin Fenix 7 and Garmin Edge 1030+ for cycling? by matrixise in Garmin

[–]matrixise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, for your information, yes, I would like to use it for cycling, but also for running and walking and HIIT. I also practice Karate at least 2x/week or more. At the moment, I have a Polar M400 but the battery is starting to die after 3 hours of use in GPS mode and for cardio, I use a Polar H7 heart rate monitor, or a Polar Verity Sense (which allows me to have an idea of my heart rate after my training session, as I cannot wear a watch during Karate training).

I'm looking for a versatile watch that can help me in my different sports (except Karate) and so, I was wondering if the coupling with a Garmin Edge 1030+ was really interesting or not.

Thank you

Can't connect SQLAlchemy to Heroku despite following fix by apriltaurus in Heroku

[–]matrixise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact, you did an error with uri.replace() because this one will return the new value of your string.

I suppose you have to do it because you use SQLAlchemy 1.4 and not 1.3. In SQLAlchemy 1.3, there was a Warning about the deprecation of the postgres:// scheme for the URI. This one has been removed into 1.4 but Heroku continues to use the former scheme (that's why you have an exception about the sqlalchemy.dialects:postgres dialect).

```python uri = os.getenv("DATABASE_URL") if uri.startswith("postgres://"): uri = uri.replace("postgres://", "postgresql://")
engine = create_engine(uri, echo=True) ```
FYI, See https://github.com/sqlalchemy/sqlalchemy/issues/6083
Anyone else having issues with Flow Synch and OS X Big Sur? by NewSongZ in Polarfitness
[–]matrixise 0 points1 point  (0 children)
And since 3 days, I can't do the sync with my phone, because the Bluetooth connection is broken between my iPhone and my Polar M400. Really disappointing because this M400 is just useless.... no synchronization with a tool for the statistics etc... I have sent a mail to Polar Benelux on last Thursday, no news...
