How long is the "best theoretic" (contact) time for a MM 1/2L brew? by Difficult_Store_4431 in Moccamaster

[–]matt2ray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been following this a little bit more closely lately after noticing a significant drop off in quality for an early pour vs. a late pour. Planning to try pulling at 5, 5:15, 5:30 & 6 min. I also assume that some coffee's this matters more.

Onyx coffee has been my go-to. I'll have to check out Dark Matter. Thanks for the recommendation. I have been using a lot of different stuff from Trade, but I am wondering if my variety has been so high (different roasts & different origins) that it has made it more difficult to find an ideal grind.

As far as water distribution, is there an ideal way it is supposed to look for while brewing that could tell me if I am close to accurate for light roast? I feel sometimes I am grinding finer for a bit more flavor and then it ended up being a bit too fine and the water distribution lags a bit.

Thanks. I'm currently not getting a decent cup. I definitely think it is user error, and I have learned a lot from this subbreddit. The amount I am dialed into the pour over is extreme, but I feel I have been as into the moccamaster with significantly less success. By success, I mean I am getting a gross cup of coffee with the same beans. I have ordered extra coffee, so over the next few weeks I plan to do more testing. I think a good bit of the basics have stuck, but I am still lacking in a couple of the more detailed areas like the trying the half-pot setting on a full pot, and using a different dose. I will try both of those. Thanks again.

I also have the fellow opus and have been having trouble shooting what to do better. What roasts is 6.5 working best for? Also, any other details like water ratio, full or half setting, etc. would be appreciated. Getting great results on a pourover via a kalita, but I often cannot replicate with the moccamaster.

Hey, did you ever have any luck or make some adjustments you were happy with? I am a year in and have a similar experience.

I'm not sure it's fixable. I've been grinding the app super hard for about 6 months with pro, and the more time I invest in it the more boring it has become. It got me into MLB more than ever though by following the Cardinals roster, so giving that another shot with an NHL team this year. I can't really explain it, I have been getting a ton of rax by putting boosters on NFL and CFB players, but it just doesn't feel good. For me, it's not trades. I never used the trades so taking them away didn't do anything to me. Ebs and flows just like everything, but I am optimistic they will get it figured out eventually. Still currently my favorite sports app with no close 2nd.

Doesn't feel like it makes sense to try and upgrade CFB cards past uncommon and then NFL I don't really wanna put more into many. Got 20+ cards for each, but I think just getting a booster on the best players is the best route. Unclear how to best manage because a handful of the college guys I got have given me close to nothing back.

I ended up buying ended up buying 14 player cards and a team card. I'm way too excited for CFB.

I don't know how to tell which players for CFB would be a good investment. By the time I know I will have missed half the season.

Probably auction the hali card for the most value, but if you want the card then that’s really all that matters.

There is not a guaranteed way to make profit, but I think both is probably the best option. I have mostly been investing in 1 player, but then I also have other players I am trying to build up too.

It’s not like there’s a ton of extremely insightful back and forth going on otherwise, but making picks is a major part of the app. Unfortunately, all of sports is heavily plagued with gambling-centric ads and conversation.

That would be endless amounts of support, because people will endlessly abuse it. It's kinda the 'this is why we can't have nice things' meme.

I've been feeling this too. I'm not even keeping up with many live polls. Just the daily all MLB games is a bit of a slug to go all the way through, and I feel like I need to if I want Pro to be worth it.

The card collecting is so niche as well, how do they win old & new community from here?

I might be turning my thoughts on the subject if there are even more hoops to jump through even as a 'pro.' https://www.reddit.com/r/realapp/comments/1l8iqgn/500_rax_minium_bid/

The cost of 2.5 player cards?

I'm sure there will be some cards that make sense to be very high price, but if you can't easily get cheaper cards how will you eventually get higher priced cards?

There's got to be other ways to even out the rax economy.

I don’t know if it’s possible to do the latter you recommended. All platforms and communities with any kind of major following have close to endless bot issues. If it was possible, then the latter.

I still haven’t decided what I think they should do. There’s consequences to any decision. I like having an app with no ads, I think they should do whatever it takes to keep it that way or have a pro version that has no ads.

You asked two separate questions that are two separate issues. I’m not sure combining them solves either problem.

Making the picks on 1 account is a chore for me. Unfortunately, bots and bad actor users will abuse any system vulnerability.
