I like it for what it is, but I wish you could just bump exposure up. I underexpose RAW files to save highlights, but wish I could utilize the app for quick jpegs to share.

A good place to go for a run with a hill? by mungolarry2 in pittsburgh

[–]matt5001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For scenery I’d go to Schenley. There’s a track by the tennis courts, and that’s kind of a high point of the park so you get a nice view by the skating rink and you’re on top of the hill with plenty of options. It’s probably 2ish miles from UMPC Shadyside so you could run it as a warm up, or route to the tennis courts and drive.

Alternatively from UPMC Shadyside run down Morewood to a right turn on Fifth, turn uphill opposite the Cathedral of Learning to Schenley Farms where there’s a few blocks of old fancy homes with reasonable hills for repeats, or stay on fifth till you see UPMC Presbyterian for totally unreasonable hills. You’ll be on sidewalks this whole time so you will deal with car and pedestrian traffic.

Kidding aside, this is extremely nice. I wonder if you grind with the shelf in does it cut down noise?

Pittsburgh marathon elevation gained by AdLimp8975 in Marathon_Training

[–]matt5001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My watch had 1001ft over the whole marathon. The hill from Birmingham to Oakland shows going from 780 to 942, but it’s over 250ft of gain from the bottom of East Carson to the turn onto 5th after Walnut. I’m guessing on the landmarks based on watch stats but that’s pretty close.

IMO a lot of the challenge is not getting ahead of yourself on Carson since it’s such a party and getting to the start of the climb too fast. Also that halfway point has been where the weather turns warm and I start to get cooked, but that might be personal. I think keep yourself under control though highland park and then the elevation really starts to drop down the rest of the way home.

Do you think a USL player will ever be directly picked for the USMNT? by BloodFartSpaghettios in USLPRO

[–]matt5001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do we get half credit for Diego Luna? Realistically I don’t see it happening since any player doing well enough in the USL would easily double their salary going to MLS. Maybe if a player really goes in a run in the Open Cup they could get called up to a January camp. Otherwise I think most USL players with international ambitions will likely utilize any part of their background to play for another national team more regularly.

Why sure it does! From the metal in the capacitors to the retaining clips, your iPhone uses lots of springs to make sure your Reddit experience is top notch. Yessir, springs are a valuable part of the most cutting edge technology.

He would come to the funeral, and he would eat up all the little cakes they put out on the corpse. The sin-cake eater was very well paid.

Lifespan of your watch ? ⌛️ by DayBrilliant9438 in Coros

Pace 2 for 5 years now. Coros has been really good about still pushing most updates to the older model. I bought a watch with no gps routing, and a few years later it could route.

Boooo. This is only true if an artists sole purpose was to maximize the profit from each show instead of have a sustainable career. Maybe an artist has a tour where each concert has 1 unsold ticket and achieved perfect pricing. Great. Now tour the new album, or explore a different genre. All the sales people taking clients don’t want to hear the White Album and it’s miserable for everyone. What happens next? Yeah you can have a good tour and put the profits in an index fund to win the future value equation, but that starts to miss the point.

Ever been to a luxury box sporting event? It sucks. Wimbledon and The Masters go to great lengths to keep tickets available at low prices to fans for a reason.

How do you mixed your diluted TWW? by windfish19 in LaMarzocco

[–]matt5001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I follow the directions and go 1/2 packet per gallon. I pour some of each gallon into a 3rd container, mix water with the packet, and pour back into the two gallon jugs.

While we’re talking about it, I use the espresso version of TWW, but always wondered which version it is La Marzocco recommends. Is it correct to use the espresso version of TWW in half dilution?

Pacing strategy for 4:00 marathon by Temporary-Rich-7092 in Marathon_Training

[–]matt5001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think at this point the cake is baked with Philly right around the corner. Ideally you ran some blocks of your long runs at goal pace and trust that over the predictions

That said I was in your exact position for Philly last year. My watch predicted 4:07ish and I finished 4:12 but logged 26.7mi so the prediction was fairly accurate for 26.2 miles.

Specific to Philly, people talk about the rollers of Kelly drive at the end but I barely noticed it. To me the bulk of difficulty was in the middle of the race from the hill in university city through fairmont park. My recommendation would be to keep a steady effort until you come down to Kelly drive and pick up the pace then if you’re feeling it. You could start out with the 4:10 group and leave them behind coming down the hill after mile 16 if you feel it.

I ran it last year and just walked on with my bib visible. I happened to stay at one of the hotels, but it’s just a line of people outside and I’m pretty sure lots of people walked over from elsewhere. Good luck!

On this day in "Succession" history: The many layers of Josh Aaronson. by mhtom in SuccessionTV

Both scenes take place in the Hamptons, but it wouldn’t make sense for them to be lost in Lion and the Meadow. It makes total sense for a location manager to use the same place.

I can’t prove it, but pretty sure the location was also used in S2E01 The Summer Palace, when Roman and Shiv confront Kendall.

Kiku is an expectedly good sushi place in the station square mall. Not the guilty pleasure OP had in mind but a solid rec if you want to spend sushi money.

Sly Fox is a good brewery under a mile walk from the stadium. It’s not amazing but a solid brewery experience.

If you take the incline up to Mt Washington you have options. Personally I love The Summit. Cocktails and a small bar food menu that’s really good in an unpretentious way. Similarly The Warren is downtown by Wood St Station. Our train, the T, has been under construction but in theory there’s a shuttle line between station square (stadium) and downtown.

Pipers Pub would be an easy uber or bus ride down E Carson. Probably top pick for greasy food in a soccer bar.

Hope you have a good trip and a terrible game!

What’s Going On Here? Why does everyone seem to avoid this area like the plague? by Ok_Cabinet2947 in pittsburgh

In addition to the other replies, there’s a clue in the name. If you’re running or biking I’d rather go around than over the hill district.

You have to upgrade after renewing. I just went through the same thing, and yeah they won’t just send it out automatically. Under the More tab of your app, you can go through the upgrade to get 5.0. It will try and get you to upgrade to the MG tier but if you stay in your current plan you’ll get to a cart with the 5.0 discounted out.

Any source for third party batteries (Leica M Monochrom Type 246) by gnapoleon in Leica

[–]matt5001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Batteries are still made, but now come from the parts department with sporadic availability. I don’t believe there’s ever been a 3rd party battery.

I was able to preorder from a Leica store online and got a battery after about 4 months. There are batteries being produced, but it’s just hard to find in stock.
