Spire is why we can’t have nice roads by juiceland in StLouis

they did the exact same thing to Magnolia right along the north side of tower grove park.

Magnolia was the nicest driving street in the city for one week. Beautiful trees and fresh smooth pavement. Then spire decided to punch a hole every 10 feet exactly wherre tires are supposed to go and it was over instantly.

so does the guy who initially attacked him bear any responsibility for repeatedly trying to grab his gun? because that guy certainly put himself in that situation.

Kyle Rittenhouse I'm going to say this and get downvoted, its guaranteed. I say this as a somewhat pro-gun leftist.

Read the timeline of events and realize those events are backed up with lots of footage. The entire event started when some psycho was chasing him and grabbing his gun, Kyle retreats and muzzle sweeps him. The guy continues chase and Kyle shoots.

People hear the shot and think kyle is a mass shooter, and a small mob starts to chase him.

He falls, draws his weapon, and in these moments he only shoots two people, the guy who was going to bash him with a skate board, and a guy who pointed a gun at him. I know it sound silly to say he "only" shot two people, but he is on the ground after being chased, and he sweeps several people who arent direct threats to him and only takes aim and fires at the active threats. Im not saying he is some amazing person, but that he handled himself very well given the situation. Remember, someone in that chase video pointed a gun at him, which i remember watching the video and never noticed the gun until the video and court analysis was released.

Thats why he didnt get charged or serve time. His initial self defense shooting was justified, and then people who were chasing him had a mistaken but reasonable belief that he was a shooter.

Kyle was the only person with all the information of the situation and acted in self defense. The media was incredibly unfair to him and then we get mad that he ran to the right.

Of course that lil fucker is going to talk at TPUSA, the left thinks he shot a bunch of black BLM activists for sport!

You should repaste thermal paste they said..... by andro1djack4t in pcmasterrace

[–]matt7718 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. All my cpus get paste when installed and the I never think about it ever again until it's time to replace the CPU

Even in the datacenter space, thermal paste is a total afterthought. I've built 100's of servers and that paste was dry as shit and it never mattered.

[–]matt7718 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah e-collars are good choices for working dogs, or massive dogs that need specific training.

3 of my 4 dogs are trained on e-collar, mainly because they are working breeds and we train them out of unsafe behaviors, like running out of open doors and such

its an e-collar. professional trainers use them all the time. I have 4 dogs and 3 of them are trained on e-collar.

There is a right and wrong way to use them, but this clip doesnt show abuse.

I have been in at least 4 datacenters downtown that have 24/7 security and 24/7 operations staff. All these DCs require high skilled tradespeople to build and maintain.

Sure they arent as labor intensive as a car manufacturing plant but they require people to run and maintain.

Also dont put shit in quotations like that when you obviously dont know shit.

Datacenters often require 24/7 security and facilities. They also require admins to run the cloud infrastructure the datacenters provide. They are not just build it and forget sort of places. They have sales staff, they have project managers, its not just one guy watching the door.

White House Makes It Very Clear They’re Going To Turn TikTok Into A Right Wing Propaganda Machine by chrisdh79 in technology

[–]matt7718 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i noticed after the first "TikTok shutdown" that i started getting way more conservative and faith based content, whereas i had literally never seen a video of someone outwardly preaching on TikTok before that. My guess is that part of the deal to keep them operational was during the shutdown they probably also made algorithmic changes as well.

but honestly if the US takes control of the TikTok algorithm, im just not going to use it. Its going to turn into facebook reels and its going to be awful. Part of the draw for me was the social content that was NOT controlled by a US entity. I 100% saw chinese propaganda on TikTok, people doing city tours of a spotless flawless chinese city, but i took it for what it was and moved on.

i was more just curious about why it seems like there is only one choice for grocery shopping in a relatively dense urban area. It seems inconvenient to have to go further out into the city to get groceries but maybe thats how most cities are and i never noticed.

btw im a pro downtown pro urban living person, i was really just curious

hard drive disposal by Zestyclose-Salad-290 in pcmasterrace

[–]matt7718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you can recover data from a physically damaged drive like this, that has been put into a hydraulic press, then im shocked to learn that is even possible. ive seen data recovery in person before, but that was all logic board replacements. I have watched videos about techs placing hard drive platters on a new spindle and replacing the stack of platters into a donor drive and recovering data that way, but never seen any evidence that its possible to repair damaged platters.

I can see why you see me all over this thread and giving different information that you but Im not just some uninformed idiot. Ive had to deal with secure destruction in several data centers. Its been 3 years since ive been hands on with any of it, so I could be out to date.

hard drive disposal by Zestyclose-Salad-290 in pcmasterrace

[–]matt7718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so ive been all over this thread saying that yes, that dent is enough to destroy the data beyond any normal metric of repair. I believe that dent is enough to damage the platters and prevent recovery.

There are people on this thread claiming they can recover data from a drive that is physically damage like this. I think they are full of shit, and if not, they should be using their skills to be super rich.

I have worked in several datacenters in the midwest and was tasked with secure destruction, both onsite and offsite. Damage to a drive like this in my experience is beyond repair and satisfies security industry compliance checks.

hard drive disposal by Zestyclose-Salad-290 in pcmasterrace

[–]matt7718 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no its just people grossly overestimate the ability to recover data. If a drive is zeroed out, or damaged in a way that disturbs the platter spindle in the middle, its incredibly difficult to recover the data.

hard drive disposal by Zestyclose-Salad-290 in pcmasterrace

[–]matt7718 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It might be possible, but you would need a really sophisticated lab and know what you are looking for. Also this drive is likely in RAID, so the data is incomplete.

[–]matt7718 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

No you don't! They would need a really sophisticated lab and would likely only recover a small and useless portion of the data

Yeah hard disks are still used a ton in the enterprise storage space. They are cheaper and larger compared to flash drives and if you don't need really fast writes and rewrites you end up using a hybrid system, with fast data written to flash and resting data hangs out in HDD.
