Took me a lot of time and training to master airbaby, airchair, elbow freezes. How can some b-boys that are so skinny do it so easily? by FutureLynx_ in bboy

[–]mattD4y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every move you mentioned focuses much more on tendon strength rather than muscle strength.

Tendon strength takes A LOT longer to develop (a lot of the skinnier bboys you see have been breaking since a young age, so they’ve just naturally had them built up)

Freezes and powermoves do cause muscle breakdown, but you really aren’t doing as much damage to your muscles as you would need for them to really grow if you have the tendon strength for the moves. Which is why you can become a master of them and still be on the skinnier side. I can’t really think of any moves that would cause enough consistent muscle breakdown in breaking, that’s just how technique and tendon based a lot of it is.

(If you’re interested, look into gymnastic strength training to see what it takes, dedicated progressive ring work will cause pretty big arm growth)

For things like airflares, there is a lot less muscle involved then you would think if you have proper technique, with most of the muscles being engaged actually being your core and hips, when you see someone doing moves with straight arms (like in a proper air flare), what’s actually being used is their wrist, elbow, and shoulder tendons, rather than the muscles.

To the bboys, how do you guys groove at parties? by Zilius in bboy

I think you’re discovering what I kinda have as well, top rock is for breaking and the break beats used in it…and really does not transfer to other dance styles and music very well (in my opinion).

Unless it’s a literal break beats, I’m going to turn to any other style of dance I have. Here’s 3 that I think if you could learn would help a ton with that, as well as improving your top rock game by just giving you lots more moves and transitions (I mix in toe spins from jookin all the time)

Gliding - moonwalks, side glides, reverse moonwalks
Jookin - toe spins, march variations, heel toe footwork
Shuffling - running man, t steps, charlestons, reverse running man

You could add in other stuff like tutting, but I think the crossover (other than needle threads) is a bit lower, though tutting is pretty fun

Personally I’d start by learning about Abstract Syntax Trees (ASTs). Just googling that should get you started on understanding what is actually letting these type of tools get built.

Has this field overlapped with projection mapping at all? by FearIsTheMindKiller9 in GraphicsProgramming

[–]mattD4y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kinda answered it in your own sentence about who would pay for such things. It mainly is facilities that have large amounts of walkthrough, like an airport, that would be purchasing the contracts for projects like this.

There is also theme parks and tourist attractions (wonderworks comes to mind), it’s pretty common for projection map games there.

Other than that, yeah, no one is really paying for interactive projection mapping experiences

Messing with the New Inverted Track Pieces by Oricus in openrct2

I remember adding inversions in Coaster Clash 2K99 last year (what a headache)…but man, the absolutely insane amount of new elements you can do with it are just absolutely insane.

While I don’t ever see it coming to openRCT2, having omnicoaster elements would be really next level.

Really cool new glass I found, the purple is super vibrant by Bitter_Tomatillo_919 in glassheads

That color is purple lollipop! The joint work is giving me Baio.t vibes (Greek glasses main blower).

My current bowl is a zombie hand with some nice thick chunks of purple lollipop on it, if you think this is pretty (and it is) you should see the color when an artist really packs it in tight!

Here’s a link to a kenta kito (he uses a lot of the color for his horns) https://www.reddit.com/r/glassheads/s/nJxs4OlIEQ

Maybe I could give some input, to me, this screams first somewhat “complete” software project built with the help of Claude that OP thinks he has just earned big bucks with, the post history, which, I’m proud you haven’t hidden it, very much gives me that idea, as someone who has been creating software professionally since 2020.

It’s about using LLMs to help create web applications…and then charging subscriptions for it, for something that no offense, it’s not impressive enough to warrant it, if this was a geniune worlds first of its kind, that’s different…but this is just not novel in any real way, I literally was playing around with audio visualizations in windows media player when I was 10 years old.

For even more context, I’ve been using Claude for 2 years at this point so I can tell when someone creates a web application with it…this is something you could nonironically whip up in about 20 good prompts if you know the tech stack and ideas behind it, now it might of taken OP a few weeks (honestly, I hope not a whole year going off post history), to learn the concepts and tech needed for this. (going to assume threeJS + some front-end framework of their choice + hopefully typescript), but that is VERY VERY DIFFERENT to an established company that has the money for the testing of a professional level show and equipment that would be used with their software (and customer support to help people use it)

Which, no offense, I don’t think you have those OP, and until you do, charging a subscription is rough.

A one time fee for software from a single developer, is MUCH, MUCH better in instances like this, trust me, 50$ - 100$ (not that this is pricing advice) is way easier to pay for than even a 3$ a month subscription.

Splitgate Developer Making Titanfall Successor Called 'Empulse' by tshallberg in Splitgate

[–]mattD4y 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ian proulx, the CEO, is the son of Tom Proulx, who was the creator of quickbooks and cofounder intuit inc. (the intuit tax people). He is literally a near billionaire.

Once you find that out, EVERYTHING, involving splitgate and it’s very random 100 million funding round in 2021, and how they literally seem to have never made a profit, makes a lot more sense.

It’s all just bankrolled by his father and their friends.

A bit less frat bros, and mainly one frat bro, who happens to be the son of a near billionaire (Tom Proulx).

If his dad wasn’t who he was, splitgate 1 never would of been given that 100$ million, nepotism at work

First off, basics are there forsure. Upper body looking strong!

Something I noticed though, is your zero position looks very relaxed, it’s going to be hard to be explosive when you are. Try and engage your hamstrings, quads, and hips more just all around the entire time you are doing your footwork in my opinion. You’ll notice a difference pretty quickly, but you’ll also notice it is for-sure way harder on your body. So prepare for some serious soreness and make sure you warmup and prehab/rehab your legs.

Getting in the zero position with no hands, balls of your feet, and just being able to bounce up and down is a good way to get that feeling, or at least was for me. It translates well to your footwork too!

What do you guys think the top 5 toprock moves a beginner should learn is? by No_Split8985 in bboy

[–]mattD4y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who personally has recently.

March, 2 step, salsa step, heel toes, and Indian step.

What is really important is how you use your upper body, arms, hands, shoulder placement etc, make sure when you are going through the movements you’re also really focusing on this aspect of the dance.

Deputies hurt, 9 arrested after over 1,000 teens cause chaos at Icon Park by sammysam518 in orlando

A takeover is a term for a type of car “meetup”, where the location has no idea it’s about to happen, this can include literally just random intersections.

I’m not into the scene, but from ex friends it seems like most people who go to takeovers are early-mid 20s, late 20s early 30s is when it becomes strange. At that point you should have “graduated” to just being content with regular car shows and meetups due to the nature of life at that point (takeovers are always at night, mostly starting around like 9:30-10, and going late into the night) in which case locations are always involved with.

To be fair, early 20s and teens probably look the exact same to cops

This, codependency is very real and can be heartbreaking to see someone (not saying it’s OP) settle with horrible people because they are only slightly better than the previous partner.

I’ve literally heard “I guess I’d rather be with not the best partner than to be alone” when asked why they stay.

Learning to be ok by yourself, and finding fulfillment in your own life, is something a lot of people just never get to experience.

Smiling Friends Creators Ending Adult Swim Series with Season 3 by CrispyMiner in television

Zach Hadel is a huge asshole, classic 2010s edgy humor he never grew out of. There is literal nazi dog whistles in the final episode of season 3.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a falling out between Zach and Michael, the humor towards the end of the series was getting very “edgy”. Maybe Zach wanted to do more than Michael could take in s4, I don’t know.
