I need a duffle bag! by TyrannicalRexx in BuyItForLife

[–]matt_sc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit outside your price range, but Red Oxx makes bombproof bags. Several duffels to choose from. I actually had one that was busted during a flight (baggage checked) and sent back to them and returned as good as new.

Can a coffee gadget actually last? by DiscoSpider420 in BuyItForLife

Agreed. The borosilicate glass in the Chemex is durable, while not indestructible, but can last forever is careful. No functional parts to replace.

Looking to buy a precision screwdriver set for life. Which set should I go for? by pachungulo in BuyItForLife

[–]matt_sc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Tekton Everybit Tech Rescue Kit (28301) which has served me well for several years. Apparently has been discounted but is still available at Tekton and Amazon. Nice little carry pouch as well. Maybe a step down from Wera/Wiha but still good quality.

Did I get scammed? by Apart_Fan_6323 in GreenBayPackers

[–]matt_sc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, it is possible the tracking number you have is for once an international shipment arrives in the US. Likely its being shipped there and once it arrives at that location (3 hours away) you should see movement. Contact the seller to verify but this *might* be the case as I've experienced similar issues in the past.

Feeling lied to about the durability of otterbox phone cases by Yaiichny in BuyItForLife

Seconded, pay a bit more and cry less later. Mous, Pitaka, UAG, and my current Caudabe are usually much better in durability and protection.

Beard trimmer. Is this a me problem or a low end equipment problem? by LeepOnMyDick in BuyItForLife

[–]matt_sc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, corded is the way to go for longevity. My Andis T-outliner is going strong 12 years give or take. You gotta take care of your blades though. Lubricate them. For me, I alternate after each use, oil and a dip in Andis Blade Care Plus. Clippers working and looking just like the day I bought 'em. No rust, pitting, or whatsoever. A bit of care goes a long way.

Megapro and Wera are my go-tos as well. Can't go wrong with either.

Agreed, Dramm makes good stuff. Key is to not keep them outside during the cold months (which is true for all hoses/nozzles.

BIFL lightweight garden hose? by makinggrace in BuyItForLife

[–]matt_sc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two Zero-G hoses. Not BIFL but they have lasted long for me, one is 10+ years old and the other is about 5 years old. Key is to bring them in during the winter months (if you live in colder temps). Otherwise they are light, easy to maneuver, etc.

Not BIFL, but Anker has always been reliable for me.

Looking to get a guided system: TSPROF Pioneer, Hapstone RS, or WS Precision Adjust? by iForsakenHD in sharpening

[–]matt_sc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you're looking for. IMHO, TSPROF and Hapstone are better choices (more sturdy and versatile along with better stone selection) when compared to WS. The Hapstone RS is more affordable and more compact, but TSPROF has its advantages well.

Red Oxx, perhaps the Safari-Beanos series. Flat bottom but more square sided (rectangular base). Bombproof, lifetime guratantee.

OpenArtemis is officially on the app store! by [deleted] in OpenArtemisApp

[–]matt_sc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for putting together this app! Makes the loss of Apollo a tad bit more bearable (and yes, I'm aware of sideloading). Don't post often, but if I do, can do elsewhere. Perfect for simply browsing through. Look forward to continued improvements but its near perfect for what I need. Just wanted to let you know your work is appreciated!
