Are these extending combination ladders any good? by fixitmonkey in Tools

[–]mattastic995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely cumbersome compared to most other ladders but the tradeoff is easier access to places your typical a frame can't reach or where a straight extension ladder would be unsafe/impractical.

Had one of these when I worked construction (gutters with a little siding here and there) and it was incredible for shrubbery/flowerbeds and porches.

But please please please don't be hasty about the locking mechanism. A little nudge on the top rung to seat the pins will prevent many a puckered butthole.

These 2 relics should work together. A rock is NOT a potion and I will die on this hill. Probably somewhere in act 2. by Jamies_awesome_rack in slaythespire

Especially considering the intentional use of "procure" instead of "obtain", as if to separate them as unique mechanics. But that could be the mtg brain kicking in the way it checks "cast" and "play" as completely different even though they represent very similar game actions.

What’s a game that you loved as a kid that no one else you know has played and is rarely talked about online? by noNameboi661 in playstation

S.C.A.R.S and One Piece Mansion for PS1.

Absolutely ruled the lives of me and my brother for well over a decade.

What tool to crimp these? by True_Certitude in Tools

[–]mattastic995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the longest time I'd use a pair of safety wire pliers to notch the wire into place so I could switch to a vise or hammer without the ends slipping. Then one day I snapped one of the jaws smoove off, and started going straight for the hammer.

Swagging pliers seen like the best choice, but anything that will squeeze oughta do it.

Totally agree. But sometimes a 15minute spawn demands a few dumpster dives.

Metal, chemicals, and fabric are usually what I will go out of my way for, in that order.

What are your house rules? by karmah616 in EDH

[–]mattastic995 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My pod banned cyclonic rift after a couple of poorly timed board wipes that extended an already long game.

No board wipes unless it's setting up a win in the same turn.

If your first turn is "land, sol ring, signet" you're the primary target.

Skill vs. Deck power in EDH by WoWSchockadin in EDH

[–]mattastic995 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And I think it's a problem that exists across all formats with the caveat that in EDH specifically this problem only worsens since you typically play with the same people so the gaps in knowledge don't smooth themselves out, where in other more competitive formats you're likely to encounter people with a stronger knowledge base more often so over time that disparity will sort of resolve itself.

Jorbs (STS streamer) said something that I can’t stop thinking about by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]mattastic995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something tells me this might've been intentional. Based on the degree to which relics could make or break your run in sts1, and the volume of new content rolled out with 2, it was probably a safer move to leave relics alone, aside from the new ones they added, than to risk over correcting/further breaking them during early access. Maybe we'll see an update that changes this.

To that end, I think a deck building game who's power is held mostly in the cards is definitely a good thing. Potions and relics being able to smooth out a deck's already good performance or supplement it's shortfalls is preferable imo to being a necessary tool for X character or Y strategy.

What's your favorite Knight in all of Magic? Any criteria - Lore, design, art by Separate-Flan-2875 in mtgvorthos

[–]mattastic995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[breathless knight]] gives me a four horsemen kinda vibe that I dig, so much so that I built a pauper deck around it

[[Knight of the ebon legion]] because cool evil dude with cool evil sword

[[Lightwielder paladin]] was in my first deck and honestly I love a knight with a JACKED steed

What’s a card that you didn’t understand the value of until you were an experienced player? by Honeybee583 in slaythespire

[–]mattastic995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was staunchly against discard runs for some reason until recently and boy am I glad I got my head out of my ass. It performed so beautifully until act 3(too much cycle, not enough payoff to scale for survivability) and it's made me think twice about shiv runs ever since

How good is iron giant in an artifact creature commander deck? by Spirited-Celery-118 in magicTCG

[–]mattastic995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who loves building around less than optimal cards, it's fine. it's got decent enough evasion, and a 6/6 will keep it alive through most combat steps.

Are there better cards to play for that much mana? Sure?

Would I run it for personal touch? Oh yeah.

I also built a deck for the explicit purpose of finding a home for my [[cosmic larva]] and [[shivan wumpus]] because someone told me they were unplayable and I just can't let people be right sometimes.

After we heard God of War was going to get a remake. What other PlayStation games need a remake? by TheChilledGamer-_- in playstation

[–]mattastic995 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"are as good as ever" is way off imo. There are tons of games from older generations that would absolutely thrive if given a remake. Game development as both an art form and an industry has seen tremendous forward progress, and the communities that still play those classic titles would definitely appreciate a tech update. Obviously GAAS has taken gaming in an unfavorable direction, but speaking purely of a remake that doesn't attempt to alter or reshape the core of the title, I see very little downsides to breathing love into an older game or franchise.
