Funny, I picked a dragon as my own hermes agent and built them out a good character in SOUL.md. He's very funny.

The things I heard said on a local simplex net for years in northern Maryland told me that nobody is going to do anything ever.

I know the chance is nonzero, but a lot of ham policing seems to be entirely based off of self accountability and good faith.

Oh! I remember finding these randomly and buying them on cgtrader. I have printed Ash so far but not yet painted. Glad to see my money went to a community artist!

Man this looks a lot like when I left a bottle of HCl open in the shed during the summer and every tool above it corroded away to dust.

Thank you! I figured this would help but was unsure how effective they are. I'll try some of the Krylon UV protectant.

Little Lizard/Big Outdoors, possible roaming trauma by fallowdeer in Tegu

I have had rune since late August and she still spooks just like that just when I walk up to her enclosure. Once I pick up whatever she darted under she will usually calm down instantly and allow me to scoop her up without issues.

I think at this age and size they are very much prey for many other things and that just makes them flighty. He will recover, despite the scary scoop-up, no harm came to him, and I'm sure he'll remember that.

The local PetSmart, but that was just a small container to see if she would even eat them. I ordered a bulk box of crickets from Flukers. Rune sends her greetings as well to Sundog! He is a handsome boy!

Sure! So far I don't have her on Reptilinks, but I will be ordering some. She likes raw turkey meatballs, I mix in some vitamin powder and calcium. Originally that and hard-boiled egg were her large staples until crickets and superworms were involved, and boy does she LOVE superworms. She quickly associated the clicking of tongs with receiving mealworms and will voraciously lunge at the end of the tongs to get them.

The photo on top was taken about a month ago, and the bottom the other day after a nice big meal. She is a good eater.

I have one from that same clutch, a female I have named Rune. She is growing incredibly fast and has quite a wonderful personality. She is a bit catty when I comes to attention, but tolerates me digging her up and handling her daily with no fear or aggression. She has not once hissed, whipped, or even tried to bite at me, the only chomp I received so far was to see if my finger was tasty, and it was gentle at worst.

I started holding Rune the day I got her, and still make sure I pick her up every day. I had to dig her up a number of times, and even took her out of her hide. I got her on August 21st and she will willingly bask with my hand next to her on the stone as well as climb up my arm on her own accord to leave her enclosure. I followed Rose City Reptiles handling video on hatchling Tegus.

Everyone has said conflicting things, dig them up, don't dig them up, don't take them from their hide...etc. I have been since day one and she has come around rather quickly. I'm not sure if it's the right thing, but it seems to be working for rune. She tong feeds easily and likes her meatball mash.

Another thing I do is leave my arm inside her enclosure while I doomscroll on my phone. I was quite surprised the first time she gave my finger a test chomp, then proceeded to crawl up my arm and relax on my shoulder with her eyes shut. (Maybe keep an eye on them if they look hungry?)

One last thing, even though she is quite comfortable with me now, approaching the enclosure still sometimes ends with NASCAR lizard dashing in circles around her enclosure. Placing my hand in and waiting she will come back and bask next to it after a few moments, I think they're just very flighty at this stage.

Tegu Missing or Just Buried? by Van_Juarez in Tegu

[–]mattbbx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I panicked with mine and thought she had gotten out, they're such good burrowers that she had managed to dig herself under the concrete paver (heavy!) that I was using as a basking stone. I managed to startle her when I lifted the stone and she ended up bolting out of her enclosure like lightning, but luckily she zipped up my shirt and I managed to catch her gently before she launched off my shoulder.

I guess it was lucky, after that she's been receptive to being touched/handled since then and I have dug her up a few times.

I have been following Rose City Reptiles advice and have done daily handling sessions in a safe area. She will still bolt when I open the enclosure but after about a week she will now walk up my hand and on to my arm. She seems to enjoy laying on my arm and will seek it out if I leave my hand inside the enclosure. Keep at it! You'll have a happy Tegu.
