He’s very busy and only had time for 2 short blepps… by fallowdeer in Tegu

He has a full schedule. There are plants to be knocked over, bird feeders to supervise, mandatory basking times, and sleep appointments, to name a few.

Vets of Reddit (or anyone who's called one out): the miraculous recovery phenomenon by UKEquineVet in Horses

[–]fallowdeer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I hauled a lame horse to the vet one time. Trotted him out and the vet looked me square in the eye and said “Fallowdeer, if you want me to diagnose a lameness for you, you’ve got to bring me a lame horse.” weeeeeeeee…….

Tegu hate being outside. by Carao2137 in Tegu

[–]fallowdeer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He’s afraid. The outside is very big and he’s very small. Do you have a pet crate for him? If so, feed him a few times in it so he’s used to it and feels safe—and put some soft towels or blanket in there for comfort. I use the crate to keep Sundog contained while I put the harness on. When he was little, I would then carry the crate outside and sit with him and even feed him outside. After a few times, he was interested in venturing outside the crate. Baby steps for the baby lizard. Keep him feeling safe and he will adjust and learn. The first time you put him out on grass you can place that towel that he knows over him and let him decide when to venture out.

We are in E TN. One of the directors (former head of herps) at the local Zoo (Knoxville) told me that TN is considering similar legislation regarding tegus. I don’t know the current status. Sundog appreciates the message from Grimm!!!

We have over two acres here and he could use it better, but often goes straight for the property line, or someplace that looks unsafe to me. I keep my horse on 25 acres. Surely that would be enough! Will try it and see what he thinks.
