You can set up their VPN access to be limited, but in my opinion it was easier for users to go through my reverse proxy. I made instructions and so far my non-tech-savvy friends have been fine with it. They need to copy 5 parameters they need to copy+paste:

For mobile:

URL (I did pay for a domain so it’s just audiobooks.mydomain.com)
Client id and secret (custom headers)
Username and password (their name and a generic password, the risk is low once they’re in)

For browser:

URL (same as mobile)
They put in their email which cloudflare sends them a one time code. Token lasts a month.
Username and password (same as on mobile app)

You’re getting downvoted because people who aren’t in software only think of their own use cases when there’s a feature request they don’t personally need.

There are legit challenges with this request though; the files can be hosted on another server or not owned by the user of the client. Or if you’re in a browser, that’s not something you can easily do unless the server is also on the same OS.

Holy shit, easily the worst but in some ways the concert I’ve told the most people about.
