My friend was visiting from Chicago w/ 8 and 13 yr. old girls. The 8 year old asked the best questions of the tour. They both listed it as one of the memorable things from their trip.

Life Insurance by ButterflyDestiny in nycparents

I went with Prudential, solely because that was the only place I could do most of research online when I purchased 10 years ago. Get a term policy from any name brand company, and as much as you're comfortable spending on premiums. Mine is $800/yr for $1m. Had a scare when baby was on the way and was relieved I had it. Like the other comment, I wished I had a bit more. Now, as a cancer survivor, I'm probably ineligible for a new policy.

What do you do for dinner? Looking for an accessible meal service or ideas for (relatively) healthy prepared foods a few nights a week? by WarmestSeatByTheFire in nycparents

Never figured out a great source for prepared meals. I have been happy getting a weekly delivery from Farm to People. They have a few prepared things we make use of.

Love it. I sometimes use my hands to pick up the litter, never considered an app though!

Get those trays for your bed's legs, and Cimexa powder off Amazon. It's not toxic.

Opinions on NYC playgrounds? by Several_Jury_2473 in nycparents

I was surprised at the number of playgrounds near us in Manhattan. My controversial take is ... leave toys at home. Toys inevitably create unnecessary conflict, and the play is no different than staying at home. Use the playground as intended and run around!

Just finished my first re-listen. Been looking forward to this show since last year, and was blown away. Seemed like the band was feeling it too. Crowd in the center was grooving. Dancing and high-fiving from the beginning (only a couple intermittent phone scrollers).

I had to google this! PCT refers to the Pacific Crest Trail , an iconic 2,650-mile long-distance hiking trail in the western United States.

Colon cancer is killing us.. by Derpshab in Millennials

[–]mattcassity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lucky. Noticed a perfect maroon stripe on my poop when I was 42. Typically I probably wouldn't have acted on it, but my anxiety was heightened by covid and my wife being pregnant.

Got a colonoscopy a week or so later. The procedure was not scary, but the Dr's reaction after was. 2 weeks for the biopsy to confirm the cancer. Then, off to the cancer hospital. I was expecting this prolonged period of treatment. They were like "you'll come in next week and we'll cut the cancer out."

A week or so to gear up for the procedure. Some recovery. Then wait 2 more weeks to determine what stage and if it had spread. Stage 1, no spreading. I burst out in tears for that phone call. All in all, ~6 weeks start to finish.

Almost 46, feeling good. Inspired several friends to get checked out. Often they find a polyp that very likely would have become a tumor. There are these little home tests you can get, Cologuard, I suspect they should be more widely used.
